HTC's New Mid Range Phones
HTC has announced their new lineup of mid-range smartphones, the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12 Plus.
The phones come in striking new colors, purple, golden and light blueish. The back of the phone looks the same as the HTC U11, the liquid surface that looks elegant but the Desire is using acrylic instead of glass that was used in U11. The phone looks slick but will not feel premium becuase of the materials.
The phones have 5.5 inch display for the Desire 12 and 6 inch for the Desire Plus, both phones have 18:9 LCD display with a resolution of 1440*720 which is quite low for a display size of 6 inches.
Inside the Desire 12 supports a MediaTek MT6739 chip paired with either 2 or 3GB of ram and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, both phones have a micro-sd card slot which supports upto 400GB of sd card, whereas the Desire 12 Plus supports Snapdragon 450 with 3GB of Ram and 32GB of expandable storage.
The Desire 12 ships with 13 MP f/2.2 single camera whereas the Desire 12 Plus packs a 13 MP shooter paired with a 2 MP secondary shooter for capturing depth information. Both phones can record 1080P videos at 30fps. Desire 12 has a 5 MP front camera and Plus model has a 8 MP front facing camera.
Desire 12+ comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back which the smaller model lacks. They both use micro-usb for charging and has a headphonr jack. Desire 12 has a 2730 mAh battery and the 12+ has a 2965 mAh battery.
The phones are expected to release in April 2018. The Desire 12 will cost around 200$ and the Desire 12+ will cost 250$.

The smartphone market is just so saturated these days. I feel like we've reached peak smartphone until march. I mean the flagships are the same, the mid-tier are the same. The only phones that have the potential to shake up the market are the Vivo Apex, Essential Phone 2, Pixel 3, Note 9, and new iPhones. But I don't think we'll be seeing any of those until the summer.
Pixel, Note and the iPhones will release around september. Can't say about the apex and the essential.
