Porsche: 50% of Our Vehicles Sold In 6 Years Will Be Electric
In a massive step forward, Porsche claimed that 6 years from now half of all the vehicles they sell will be electrified.
The Mission E (pictured above in concept form) is to be Porsche's first all electric vehicles (they produce a number of plug-in hybrid models already). That car should be on sale in 2019, where they will except it to move more than 20,000 units a year. That's pretty significant for a car manufacturer that only sold a grand total of 230,000 units worldwide in total last year. The concept version had a range of around 500 kilometers, and a 0-60 mph acceleration of about 3.5 seconds. We should probably expect similar numbers for the upcoming production version.
To reach that goal, one has to expect that more all electric models will follow. Indeed, the CEO now says an all electric vehicle in the mold of the Macan is coming (which means we should except a small SUV or crossover). It's entirely possible more will follow by 2023 in order to meet this target.
All this comes as Jaguar has begun mass production of it's electric I-PACE model. The vehicle is expected to hit showrooms in Europe before the end of this year, and in America in early 2018. BMW, Mercedes, and Audi all have their own luxury SUV's planned as well. If the i-PACE sells well, we could soon see a very crowded luxury EV sector.

Yeah I could see electric cars being the future. I just picked up Focus EV today for a week-long review, seems fine so far. Obviously the Porsche EV's are going to be much more driver oriented.
Do you like it? I've heard great things about Teslas and the Chevy Bolt as well
If you look at it like "it's just a Focus", then it drives fine and feels like a normal Focus. But you do have to remember it costs considerably more than a Focus. I'm not sure if the added cost is worth it, but to some people it might be worth it.
I don't think you can save enough in fuel cost to cover the added cost of buying the car.
You can't. The Focus is really a compliance car sadly :/. I can't wait for Ford to put some real effort in and develop a real EV. A lot of EV's are going to be released in the next 3 years though!
More and More charging stations are popping up in my area....the ENTIRE world is changing around us...what an amazing time to be alive and be able to take advantage of these changes
