The blackberry messenger was the trend and
the main thing back then when owning a blackberry smartphone mattered.

It was created by blackberry limited formally know as RIM(reserach in motion).

The blackberry messenger( also known as BBM) is an internet-instant messaging mobile application that debut on August, 2005.

this application was initially meant for blackberry smartphone devices and made use of ping technology.

During later part of 2013 the application was released on iOS and Android systems enabling communication between cross-platforms.

For many years the BBM app has been held up on high esteem by most blackberry owners.

It begs the question what happened to blackberry messenger?

Since the blackberry smartphone itself is almost going extinct most people blame the fall of blackberry devices on the management of the company at that time was unstable others say the fall was solely caused by the iOS and Android smartphone.

The Android and the iOS smartphone came with something different at the when most people where tired of the plane old qwerty keyboard and same old user interface.

They brought complete touch screen and changed the entire user experience, at this time the blackberry smartphone was still following it's trivial design and by the time they could realize that the world had changed it was too late.

Currently blackberry limited has stopped production of smartphones and has concentrated on developing of softwares and mobile application.

Although, the BBM app is now on a cross-platform it still lags behind other instant messaging platform like the Whatsapp, facebook messenger, Viber and google hangouts in terms of popularity and subscribes

We only hope and watch if the almighty BBM would return to its past days of might.
