Could robots replace humans at work?
But are there any reasons to be afraid?
The fear of being replaced by a machine begins in the early nineteenth century with the rise of the industrial revolution, when a group of workers organized to put an end to the machines, considered responsible for the layoffs and bad wages.
This fear increases with the development of artificial intelligence (AI), experts in new technologies, robotics and artificial intelligence indicate that by the end of the decade of 2020 robots would occupy the workplace of many of us. Although not many agree with this statement and argue that robots could coexist and work with human employees.
What effect could replacing robots by humans in workplaces have on society?
new technologies that used to perform more rudimentary tasks began to creep into more complex workplaces, displacing humans. Those who oppose the fact that industries partially or fully automate their operations assure that this would generate unemployment, inequality and destruction of the traditional social structure, mention that at the moment there are industries that increasingly automate their operations such as assembly lines that have years automating their operations.
So, can you live with machines at work?
There should be no problem introducing robots to the industries, as long as this does not affect the use of humans, nor cause mass dismissals. The chaos that could generate introducing robots in industries to replace human beings, could be avoided if take measures that maintain a balance between the use of robots and the number of employees hired, as long as the intentions of the industries are not to get rid of employees. Finally, it is about the decisions that humans must make in how to use new technologies for the benefit of humanity.
