The satellite Parker Solar Probe is ready to "touch" Sun
NASA will launch a satellite named Parker Probe to be set into orbit around the sun (almost touching it) in order to study it. It is going to be the first satellite to reach the Sun.
The satellite has the size of a small car and has three categories of scientific instruments: FIELDS (calculation of electric and magnetic fields in the heliosphere), WISPR (camera to photograph bursts of mass and other solar phenomena), SWEAP (registration of the particles of the solar wind) and ISOIS (measurement of particles for a wide range of the energy spectrum).
The Sun is a dynamic star with intense magnetic activity with continuous explosions and powerful irradiance to every direction. His “atmosphere” extends to all our solar system and affects Earth as much as all other planets and their satellites and it is hoped that, for the first time, we will have an answer to the greatest mystery: Why the solar “crown” is as much as 300 times hotter than the visible surface of the Sun.
The satellite is named after the American physicist Eugene Parker who in 1958 published the first scientific study about the existence of solar wind.
