Why Toronto Should Get The New Amazon HQ2

The list of potential suitors for the second Amazon headquarters has just been narrowed from over 200 to 20. Toronto is the only Canadian city on that list.

Here are a few reassons why Amazon should set up in Toronto.

• we have a world class airport, Pearson International
• we have the most multicultural and tolerant populace of any city in the world
• we have a great and very competitive corporate tax rate
• we have many world class universities including University of Toronto, Ryerson, and York
• we have thousands of acres of land on which to build a huge facility
• we have a great transit system both within the city (TTC) and coming in from the suburbs(GO trains)
• international shipping could be done easier from Canada, and the Seattle HQ could focus on American domestic orders
• we are a world class business center, with many convention centers, entertainemtn options, and other corporate headquarters of world class corporations.
• thousands of Toronto natives move to other tech hubs like Silicon Valley and Hong Kong, and the Amazon HQ would help retain and return this talent to our city
• we have ambitious and brilliant young people from all over the world in Toronto with a tech savvy skill set that Amazon needs in a potential work force.
• we are a clean and safe city with a great cultural and culinary scene
  (basically we have everything that Jeff Bezos and his team could possibly want, except the coffee is not as good as Seattle)
