Considering The Current Political Situation In The US Would You Still Travel There If You Had To Hand Over Your Latops/Passwords etc.?steemCreated with Sketch.

Welcome the the USA!

I don't have a Twitter account. I am in and out of the US and in and out of other countries regularly. I take my laptop where I go. My laptop is clean and I uninstall Tor before going anywhere and run a Guttmann 35 pass overwrite on my free disk space. My only anxiety comes from thoughts of going through Israeli immigration, planned for the near future. I've always wanted to go and visit the Holy Sites. I travel with my phone sometimes. I have numerous sim cards from countries where I've been and just switch the right one in when I go somewhere.

First term

I think the President Trump will make it through his first term. Barring the unthinkable of an early demise. So far, Trump has been extremely proactive in his efforts. He has his opposition consistently crying foul, and acting retroactively.. He seems to have the benefit of sticking to his game plan, and has been able to keep everyone hopeful as to what it is. Especially as he is on record more than once in saying that unlike his predecessor, he will not be telegraphing his punches.

His first impressions with the Chinese premiere and Vladimir Putin seem to be of the sort...mutual respect against North Korea and agreed US-Soviet agreements on Syrian no fly zones- that the collective unconscious of the US is not affected. Even the recent firing of Comey of the FBI was mitigated by Trump in his pink slip writing that he appreciated Comey on three times stating that he, Trump, was not under investigation. But, maybe this is all the flavor I get and it could be nothing more than my wishful thinking.

Why visit America? The great con of freedom is beginning to erode into no existence. Now I would travel without a PC and use a USB Bootable Liveusb with Tor and all necessities on a micro USB and preferred wi-fi dongle. Internet cafes and Hotel PCS are abundant in the states. Or buy a machine and return before you head back. 30 days return policy in many cases at American retailers.

Trump will likely last but the voter base who pushed him to the office is losing faith in him. It's the same old problem, if only the opposition used his ego as a weakness they could achieve more. The man has a track record of not succeeding at any endeavour he has taken on. If he was as great as he claims he would have a larger global stock. But he's known among all with power as the great con man.

These are just my opinions and observations ... love to hear yours below.

I remain the ever humble,
@mindhunter

This is a good question that I can not answer quickly. I must think it.

It's a tricky beast indeed @malonmar!!

do you know that for a fact or did you see it on the mainstream news?

Ha ha! I was trying to provide some counterbalance there to the Everitt! LOL! Do you think I ever watch the news?! I don't even have a TV in my house!!

smart man..very wise.

Just keepin' your articles my friend! ... and videos sometimes!

I'm Israeli and I know what you mean @mindhunter

I'm off there next week. NOT looking forward to Ben Gurion!!

Ever since they installed body scanners and instigated invasive pat down by the TSA my first choice was anywhere but the USA. Albeit body scanners are now common in most countries the pat downs are definitely a turn off.

I had the full body scanner leaving the UK for Poland last year. They are everywhere now!

I guess I should get into the laptop rental business.

That, and truly making a cloud storage system where you can restore your computer anywhere in the world.

How about blockchain laptop rentals ... full transparency!!

I do not think this is a good use for block chain.
If you do not mind your stuff being fully out in the open, then let them go through your laptop.
Or just put the file on steemit.

Most people will want some kind of security against others stealing their stuff, and a way of verifying their data is intact. Both of these do not a block-chain lend themselves too.

I think Steemit should have a private tab where files/pics are hidden for private use only ... kinda like youtube private videos.

Well, steemit couldn't enforce it. It is all out there for anyone to see.
steemd.com allows you to view all texts of all messages, deleted or not.

You can make a post, and then edit it with a completely different post, and you will probably be the only one who ever goes and looks for it.

You could also encrypt whatever into anything that spits out ascii. Like pgp.
And past that in your post.
