iPhone X - The death or the triumph of Apple?

Apple has just released its 10th Generation iPhone. It has a lot of new features (new with respect to older iPhone models but obviously not compared to much older Android Phones).

I think that it can be seen from two different perspectives; Death or Triumph.

Death:

Features such as the FaceID, wireless charging, and etc. have already been featured on earlier Samsung phones. It seems that Apple is not ahead of the game anymore. Gone are the days when people at their yearly unveiling would be shocked at the "first-in-the-world" functionalities that will be fronted, year after year.

Triumph:

Maybe its different from Apple now. They win by waiting for their competitors to provide new features and study them so they can make it perfect. Apple is known for refinement and precision. Is it safe to assume that they invest in delivering the best product rather than the first one?
