The first radio broadcast in Bangladesh began in 1939 and the TV broadcast started in 1964.
There are three types of media in the field of publication and publicity. First, print media such as newspapers, books, magazines. Secondly, electronic media such as radio, TV, film Thirdly, 'New Media or New Media'. This is a new media conception. The incredible success of information technology has created an active and effective communication network. Such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc. Their characteristics and role are very similar to other media. So these are called new media This includes online newspapers. The use of media in our lives has become a matter of importance now. We wake up in the morning, we are reading the magazines, listening to the radio to get instant news, watching TV.
Using radio, TV, movies, books for leisure entertainment. People mainly use the media for four purposes. For information, to get education, get entertainment and get motivated to learn about any topic. Now most people around the world use any media.
Media has some responsibilities in society and society. Media's responsibility is to bring the present system of society to the forefront. So that people can know their society properly. Media ensures the freedom of speech of the people. When the media goes independently, can establish freedom of expression, speak for the people, then there is a sense of democracy that is there. So the media is called the prerequisite for democracy. Media consolidates democracy. Independent media is the manifestation of democracy. Every man on earth has freedom of expression. Media makes people express their opinion. Besides, the media and political activists of the ruling party and the state media brought the media in front of everyone. In order to face accountability, everyone has to face. So they have to think of countries and ten. As a result, the basis of democracy is also confirmed.
Although the media has the right to its own system of action, policy and freedom of expression, most of the time media is used as a tool for the campaign of the ruling class. So, we must decide on the basis of our own judgments as people, we will be affected by any aspect of the media.
Despite various challenges, the work of media and its activities continued to evolve, adapt, and persevere. Nevertheless, the watchdog function of media endured, keeping a check on power dynamics and exposing truths, even in the face of adversaries like the infamous busted newspaper. From investigative journalism to social media reporting, the media landscape remained dynamic. However, amidst the plethora of information, the credibility of sources became a focal point. While some outlets upheld journalistic integrity, others fell prey to sensationalism. The rise of citizen journalism and independent platforms added complexity.
