I have told this many times that the progressive crowd is full of State worshipping shills and they love Big Government raping them with 90% tax rates. For some reason the progressive crowd is just totally brainwashed, I think they have good intentions with the minority rights stuff, but man their political stances are horrible and lead to total tyranny.
I think of them as sheep - mentally retarded sheep, of course.
No I think that is not fair to call them that. I think they honestly want to do something good, but watching TV 24/7 and all the propaganda and the echochamber in he mainstream culture really creates zombies.
They must see the truth and then they will stop believing the lies. The propaganda is very strong it can cause Doublethink, so we have to point out the cognitive dissonances in their heads. That is how they will realize the truth.
I'm don't have your optimism regarding many of these people, I'm afraid.
You can't point out cognitive dissonance, without entrenching their viewpoint even further - you are basically calling them stupid - which is never an argument winner!

One thing I realized - you can't make some ones IQ increase, with wishful thinking...unfortunately.
( and the bell curve spread of IQ will always remain, and hence the sheep think).
I don't think this problem is affected by IQ, even I was bamboozled by it at first because I didn't pay attention to the details, and I have a high IQ.
If they are intelligent enough to understand the propaganda (but for some reason not detect the cognitive dissonance), then they are intelligent enough to understand the truth as well.
Most of these people live in an echochamber or a closed minded, that is not an IQ problem, since you find most of these progressives in academic circles with 130+ IQ levels.
It's a question of wisdom rather and being a critical thinker.

The 'thought propaganda' emanates from the top down, and is 'inflicted' on the 'lowers IQ'ers'. (for want of a better term).

People find the truth too difficult ( ego crushing, I have found), to accept it..
The sweet pill of delusion is a conscious choice over the bitter pill of reality...
(people choose to turn on TV, rather than read a book, for example).
For people like 'us'- where the truth is the point- it is difficult - if not impossible - to understand why people wouldn't want the same thing - it's blindingly obvious.
What if that isn't the reality....?

Propaganda is mostly effective on those that can think to only derail them from the truth by applying all sorts of tricks on them. It's mostly used agaisnt smarter people, since the propaganda tools have been well sharpened over the last 100 years.
Yes it is, so it has nothing to do with IQ, since you can find humble stupid people and narcissistic smart people and vice versa.
It has more to do with the level of introspection and wisdom a person has whether it's smart or dumb.
I think they do, they just don't know what is the truth. If you have been fed all your life lies, it's very hard to find the truth.
For us everything here seems obvious, but for them it's not, they have no idea.
I think people have an inherent exploratory instinct in them, and that is a basic instinct for survival. Like how people survived the ice age by exploring different continents and things like that.
People have a thirst for knowledge. Whether they get quality knowledge or not that is a different thing.

Well there are different branches of propaganda, you might want to read Bernay's "Propaganda" titled book on that.
That being said, most revolutions were inspired by acadamics and intellectuals who got bamboozled into this utopic thinking, they were high IQ people got conned into a fantasy ideology.
The masses just had a sense of obeying authority, so if the intellectuals said that it's good, then they believed them. They didn't think, they just followed orders and authority.
So the propaganda is really aimed at intellectuals.
