Showpad Wants To Make Salesmen Less Annoying With Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality

If you ask people, most of them will likely say that they don't like salesmen. Yet in the world of business, nothing gets done until a salesman makes a sale. And now, augmented reality may be speeding that process up.  With the growth of augmented reality startups already increasing by 50% just this year, it seems technology companies are exploring new use cases with wild abandon. From Facebook news feed ads to Walmart's furniture simulations, the use cases for AR are growing by the day.  So this week when the startup Showpad launched their iOS app that allows users to project 3D models into a real world environment, the world took notice. Having raised nearly $100 million dollars, the company has created an app that allows users to create an augmented reality microsite that brands can use to show off their latest goods and services.  As salespeople can now upload 3D models into the app, demonstrating a product has never been easier. While it may not be necessary for a set of steak knives that can cut a penny in half, demonstrating a massive piece of industrial machinery may be more easily done with an app like Showpad's. Showpad's Chief Product Officer, Louis Jonckheere, had this to say: > "We wanted to help our customers with large, complex physical products not only tell prospects about their solutions through great digital content, but be able to show them through a truly immersive buying experience. Buyers want greater context and more information in their purchase experience, and AR enables them to see exactly what they're getting. Now, they can have deeper, more interesting conversations about even the most complex products by seeing them in the context of their own environment." **Will apps like these change the face of presentations, sales pitches and PowerPoint presentations? Only time will tell.** **What do you think about Showpad's new app? Let us know in a comment!** # UPDATE JUNE 28th, 2018 We've been busy…   1. We are working on opening the eShop on schedule on July 31st. We will have a variety of tech and designer glasses at launch.    2. The eShop will be the only place in the world to get Rx eyewear and smartglasses with BTC/ETH.    3. LCD integration in eShop (for rewards, loyalty program, glasses purchase) planned for later this year.   4. LCD token wallet smartphone/watch app in development. Expected Q1 '19. Our goal is that the LCD app will use same account as eShop to unify user experience with the token - for example, buying a new smartglass on lucyd.co gives you an LCD reward, which you can then access from your Bluetooth-connected smartglass.   5. Lucyd is also developing a platform-agnostic app to improve general synergy of wearables and IoT devices, called LINK. Expected release Q4 this year. US Patent application to be submitted on July 2nd 2018 to cover this app. This will be Lucyd's 14th intellectual property (either a licensed patent and/or patent application).   That's all for now! We are still seeking new token exchanges with reasonable listing fees, so please bring them to our attention at [email protected]. You may also direct any other concerns there. Thanks!
