Raspberry pi 4, a single powerful card!

in #technology5 years ago

With the great success of the previous version, the Raspberry Pi Foundation returns stronger than before, with the Raspberry pi 4.

After a long wait, this raspberry brings Pi to another level, with very high performance and with various versions of 1, 2 or 4 GB of DDR4 ram.

DESIGN

With its minimal design, and with its 46 grams, you can easily put it in your pocket and take it anywhere.

This Raspberry on the right side has four USB Type-A connections, two of which are 3.0.
There is also a Gigabit Ethernet port for wired connections and is also equipped with a wireless connection like the previous model.
In the lower edge we find a 3.5mm audio jack, two micro HDMI ports and the USB Type-C charging port, and instead on the left side the micro SD card reader.

On the top of the card, there are the ribbon connectors for the Camera Serial Interface (CSI) and the Display Serial Interface (DSI), which provide dedicated connections to the camera, the screen or other accessories compatible with the Raspberry.

CPU

Compared to the previous versions, this Raspberry is completely innovative, with a new BCM2711B0 processor.
This chic is based on a 28nm architecture and uses Cortex-A72 as microarchitecture.

The processor is a quad-core with a 1.5 Ghz clock, which at first glance does not seem faster than the previous version.
But we must also consider that the microarchitecture has a pipiline depth of 15 instructions, so it is not waiting for the exit of a process to be started on another.

This means that at the same clock speed the Cortex-A72 processor is much faster and will consume more power than previous versions.

GPU

Even the GPU has had a nice revolution, it has a VideoCore VI set at 500 Mhz.
This new GPU supports a 4K resolution display with a speed of 60 fps, or two 4K monitors at 30 Hz.

NETWORK

The Raspberry Pi 4 has the same Wifi 802.11ac as the old version, but has a Bluetooth 5.0.
Importantly, the Ethernet port has a higher bandwidth and allows up to one Gigabit.
