A wix templated website keeps you stuck at wix whether you like it or not.
That's the wix idea -- create one easy and free. Oh! Want to leave? Hahaha.. you have to rebuild your site again somewhere else.
I used wix, paid them $10 a month for over 5 years. I was a dedicated user.
I now Hate wix and would never recommend anyone to use it.
It's true all the pro's and con's you mentioned. No argument there.
BUT get this for those that didn't the fine print. Wix own everything you put on their platform. They reserve the right to alter your site and technically own the photos once they've been uploaded.
Second.
After I cancelled my subscription they took down my site. Fair enough I expected that but then they stole my domain. They used my www. address to to market wix. When people went to my site all they saw was a big Wix advertisement on my website. I did not agree to have use my domain and I was not warned.
It was no longer affiliated with wix and they just took it on themselves.
It was my domain and they just High Jacked it after I paid them with smiles for years.
They wouldn't even take it down after a brutal twitter battle. I had to go and disconnect it manually throught my webhosting, godaddy.. Which is understandable but still they should not have high jacked my site with their banners.
Say No to WIX!!!
Try Godaddy website builder, it's similar to wix but you maintain ownership of the content.

I do like their platform. its very easy to use. But ya,... the other stuff. lol
I have only tried the free plan ( to see how it was) and I have to say is the best webpage a little business can create, fast ,really good for the time it takes to build it and the costumers say something like " how this little shop can has that stunning webpage?"
