Dangers behind pornography experienced in virtual reality

Pornography through virtual reality has the potential to offer a new type of experience, informs IFL Science. In addition to current technology, future developments will seek to reproduce realistic sensations such as taste, smell and touch.

This type of technology also has negative effects on children in particular. They are exposed from early ages to explicit images. Studies have shown both negative effects such as consent, but also positive effects such as new methods of experimenting with pornography.

In the study, the subjects were asked to write a story about an imaginary character (Jack) and their first sexual experience in virtual reality. By analyzing the stories, two main themes, some positive, some worrying have been identified.

Some tales portrayed Jack in an euphoric sexual experience. Thus, the limits of imagination can be experienced, with VRs gaining new sexual possibilities. But there have been stories in which Jack has been involved in precarious sexual relationships that have begun to be much more intense than real life in the virtual world. The results have shown that pornography in VR could affect sexual relations in the real world.

Another story that shook the researchers was where the main character used a 3D printer to create a virtual model of the real-life partner. This, including the sinister twins involving extraterrestrial Siamese or degrading and violent behavior, raises ethical issues of consensus when two people want to have intimate relationships.
