5 Noteworthy Technological Inventions of 2017.

in #technology7 years ago

I really enjoy posting new technological advancements so I thought doing lists could be interesting.

I will be focusing on giving you a list of inventions with basic descriptions rather than going into depth about the mechanics that I can't even pretend to fluently understand but will be including links to the full articles with all the details for people who want to know how these break-through inventions operate. I think it would be fun to highlight new inventions in lists like this regularly so I hope you guys enjoy it.

  • A Virtual Reality System that can Simulate Real Barriers.

There is a research project underway that is hoping to be able to simulate the feeling of smacking into a wall when you do so in virtual reality. At the moment, nothing happen aside from you quit moving forward in the game. This would add an incredibly awesome new aspect of realism to virtual reality.

The technology uses electrical muscle simulation and could not only help to produce the feeling of hitting a barrier but could also simulate the feeling of lifting a heavy object. Might have to start reconsidering my weapons in games, eh? I am pretty frickin' excited about this personally and highly recommend you go read the article below if you are interested in gaming or virtual reality.

  • Turn any Flat Surface into a Touch Screen with a Spray Can.

According to new studies researchers are able to turn any flat surface into a touch screen with a simple spray can.

This invention is being called "Electrick" by it's inventors from Carnegie Mellon and while the resulting touch screen is now quite capable of the precise navigation you will get from your tablet or cell phone they are capable of more simple things like scrolling.

  • Scientists are Now Able to Use Glass to Make 3D Models.

3D Printers have been using a wide variety of materials for years now from plastic, to metals, to ceramics but until now people thought glass to be too difficult to work with due to the heating aspect of the lasers used in 3d modeling. According to the researchers who were able to create intricate glass models the secret is something they call "liquid glass". Now that I built the suspense you have to go read all about it!

  • Robo-Venus Fly Trap that Could Help Robots to Grasp Objects.

The creator of this innovative technology says it was not application driven and admits to not actually considering what it could be used for but it could be useful for many applications including helping robots to stock shelves, and biomedical manipulators.

  • Will the Future Have Wired Roads that Charge Your Car While You Drive?

Researchers from Stanford University set out to answer to find a way to make charging electric cars more efficient and they used a concept adapted from quantum physics to develop a wireless charger that automatically tunes the frequency of the radio wave to account for changes in the distance between the charger and the device.

Interesting post..3D glass? :O

Interesting post, may be useful and add information.

As both someone who has a degree in science, and loves gaming, I'm excited to see things like this on the horizon! Great article, excited to see more!

Thank you! I am just a little science enthusiast but still incredibly excited as I am a disabled gamer and VR could really change my mood by allowing me to explore. So the more realism the better! :D

Holy crap my mind is actually blown. The any surface into touchscreen is insane :O

haha Thanks. :D If you keep up with tech inventions things are getting craaaaaazy. :)

interesting post

Thank you. :)

That glass castle was so beautiful!

These days, technological advances are so rapid that sometimes i`m afraid of these changes.

I can understand that. I sometimes fear how advanced AI is getting.

I found the last point about wired roads interesting. I'm a big Elon Musk/Tesla fan and hoping they take over the car industry. Instead of cords I could easily see Tesla powering the car through solar panels.
