Every second car sell in Norway is an electric car or a hybrid

"Every second car sell in Norway is an electric car or a hybrid": In December, 52% of car buyers chose electric models, the same figure for the entire 2017 was 39%

Norway delivered the next electromobile record, and this was not the least due to the success of Tesla. In the last month of the last year, 52% of all cars purchased in this northern country turned out to be electric, and the same result for the full year 2017 exceeded 39%.

Thus, every second sold in Norway in December 2017 (and every third by the end of the year) the car is a full-fledged electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid, and with a slight advantage over the ICE models. Taking into account only "clean" electric vehicles, their share in the sales structure grew to 21% at the end of 2017, compared to 16% at the end of 2016.

Note that December is historically a record in terms of sales of electric vehicles, but even with the popularity of winter months in potential buyers, the growth is impressive - in December 2016 in Norway, electric cars accounted for "only" 40% of the total number of cars sold.

The most popular electric vehicles in December 2017 were the Tesla Model X crossovers, which attracted 1,429 buyers and Tesla Model S sedans, sold in the amount of 1032 pieces. As a result, this American company rose from 14 to 7 in the list of the most popular automakers in Norway, with the power of only two models. With the start of active sales of the budget Tesla Model 3, the company is quite able to enter the top three most popular manufacturers by the end of 2018.

As we have already said, the share of electric models (BEV + PHEV) for the entire 2017 was 39.2%, while in 2016 it was 29.1%. Then this country reached the mark of 100 thousand electric vehicles sold and planned to increase their number 4 times by 2020.

If you consider all the versions, and not just pure electric vehicles, then by the end of the year a popular hatchback Volkswagen e-Golf with the result of 12,164 cars sold was on the first place. Next comes BMW i3 with a result of 5,036 pieces and only the third place in the total sales list is occupied by the first model without an electric motor in the face of the crossover Toyota Rav4. The Tesla Model X electric scooter took the fourth place of the annual rating with the result of 4,748 copies, and the Tesla Model S sedan - the eighth place with the indicator of 3,712 pieces.

In total, in the ranking of the top 15 cars for the year 2017, you can find five full-size electric cars and 13 cars with electric motors ("battery" and hybrids). Due to this, Norway once again reduced the average level of C02 emissions for new cars to 74 g / km in December and to 82 g / km for the entire 2017 year.

Recall that this country is going to completely ban the sale of all gasoline and diesel cars as early as 2025.

Your English is not perfect, but it is certainly more than adequate enough to convey an important message. Scandinavia lead the world in automotive safety for a long time. Now they are leading on environmental issues. Scandinavia, with Norway at the fore, are once again the leaders the rest of the world must follow. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

(Note - I do not mean to be insulting about your language skills. The best I ever managed when travelling in Western Europe a long time back was barely enough to keep me from starving. Anyone who can do better than that has my deep admiration.)

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

I thank you for your attention, I will try to improve my skills

I think its great how Norway and I understand to a degree other Scandinavian countries are accepting and using more alternate fuel vehicles and i hope the rest of the world will follow suit

I understand there are also good incentives in place like tax incentives as well is that true?

wow i didn't know that. I knew Norway had quite the reputation regarding renewable energy and i am really excited more and more people are into electric cars and Tesla. Tesla in such a short period of time has achieved much more that people see.

well yes they sold quite the number of electric cars but they forced other big car companies to create electric car models too!

Great stats. Thank you for the post.
And electric cars, I think it is very specifications of the project, which is gaining momentum

Hybrid cars are very technologically capable!!

Yes it is!
