Hello Errybunny and welcome to my rant about date

Sometimes, I think, especially in this particular era, that we've come to normalize a whole host of bad or otherwise totally stupid ideas under umbrella terms "convenience" or "comfort" or "public safety".

And if you should speak on it with emphasis, note how many "normal everyday people" will try to explain it away like they're program bots or the white blood cells of a swaying system upon its own precipice.

Why does a app need access to certain portions of my phone if the app in question wasn't specifically designed for the task it's asking to access?
And how much data collection is enough?
What specifically gets done with our stuff?
I hear people raging on not trusting the government, but you trust more these big tech companies? What were those alleged phone brands that got banned here in the states because they were secretly collecting the user info for the Chinese government? I know damn near everything now collects an excess amount of information on you, but where is the level of accountability or oversight if say your information ends up in the wrong hands?

Like the whole Equifax incident.
Do we fall for the arts of misdirection each and every time some big business fails us and tries to get out of it? Paranoia and a healthy dose of skepticism isn't a necessarily a bad thing, it should be a strength, especially in the times we live in.

I mean, you all are welcome to pick this thing apart and say what you feel, but is privacy now a thing of the past? Should I be concerned if I happen to look up one day and discover that that's not a bird nest in the trees or a rustling of their leaves, but instead, upon further inspection, that it's a nest of cameras and that there's microphones for every leaf, and the birds are thinly veiled drones following me.
