Smart Contact Lens Could record Everything you see.
Imagine being able to play back a crystal clear video of the greatest moments of your life: your first kiss, that huge win at the casino, or the time Bill Murray approached you on the street, gave you a bear hug, and vanished into the night. We are not far away to the time when we all will be equipped with these lenses which will record all day long. Sony, Google and Samsung are working on this tech at the moment.
Sony's patent application explains how their smart lenses will work and it is believed to be having more features than just seeing and snapping a picture. Sony says that the lenses would record images when "worn on an eyeball". The lenses will have own storage units to store recorded data.
The question arises here is that how are we going to press " record"? Well it is pretty sure they won't attach a button to it. Sony's patent explains that they would start to record with the blink of an eye. The lenses would know when you are blinking out of necessity and when you are giving a signal to the lens to record. The patent also says that users might only need to wear a smart contact lens in one eye and not in both eyes.

For those who are keen to get these, had to wait for at least 2-3 years, though no release date is announced but it is expected to come after 2 years.

Honestly I really hate this idea. I hate being filmed. There are already sites dedicated to taking pictures up women's skirts and basically bullying anyone who looks different and posting them online. It's like a self imposed 1984.
I also feel like constantly recording through a lens has made us forget how to live. I see all these people at concerts filming the whole show with their camera, too busy to enjoy actually being there. For me, I'd rather experience being there, maybe take a couple of pictures or a short video, but you get people filming the entire thing. Half the time they never look back at the videos anyway.

Your opinion is valid but the thing is that these smart contact lenses will also have many advantages too. I know this product will ruin the privacy of simply anyone but this will help you to make POV (I'm not talking about porn) videos which are very exciting to watch. With that said, this is extremely scary. Unavoidable and an obvious step on the technological evolution, but scary nonetheless. Cell phone camera apps already are recording way more than they should. With a technology like this, there is no privacy or secret that can't be broken by the companies that own the patents and obviously from hackers. I am not willing to give away my privacy for convinience, but when you reach a point when everybody around you is using one such device, what does your privacy and what you want matters? Scary indeed...
"The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins." - will no longer be applicable in the future. Does that mean individual freedom wont be applicable in the future aswell?? Only time will tell, but it sure looks that way.
Well I agree with what you want to say. But the thing is that this has many advantages also which even you can't ignore. However, if this thing will not be suitable for our future then it would never grow in the market when it releases. So there is nothing to worry about it.
