RE: Spectre & Meltdown Checker for Linux

in #technology8 years ago

I don't have a modern microprocessor , so I don't have to be scarred , because I read on wikipedia that "Spectre is a vulnerability with implementations of branch prediction that affects modern microprocessors ". Mine is from 2014 so i don't mind to worry about that xD.

I think 2014 stuff is also affected :/

Ohh..But wikipedia says that already published several procedures to help protect home computers and related devices from the Spectre and Meltdown security vulnerabilities. So I still have worry?

It depends. There are a lot of variations of this security hole. A few are patched and a few not. And if one is patches hackers find out ways to exploit it with a new method.
The bug cant be fixed since its not a software problem. Its a Hardware problem (CPU) so there are only work arounds possible.
What you should do it to check for system upgrades regularly. Vendors like mac or microsoft will publish patches as soon as they can.

Yes but nothing can stop the hackers, because they always find a new way to exploit , how did you say.Even they will publish patches and will stop these hackers from now , in the future will be other who could exploit that patch. I mean this is my opinion , or maybe they will be stopped definitive :) .
