Will Sex bots be competing for your partners attention?

Robotic advancements are increasing at an alarming rate. Coupled with robotics is the increased development of Artificial Intelligence. Even Elon Musk has been warning about robots and A.I. and the need to slow down the development. The rush is on, however, to dominate the personal companion bot market. Analysis have projected the market to be worth billions of dollars globally.

As the robots technology improves they are getting more life like in their movements and speech. It will not be long before a robot will be competing for another human's attention. The ultimate mail order bride will be a companion bot. Anyone can order in detail the features and personality of their personal companion bot (male or female).

The major reason for people having pets is for companionship. The pet industry is a multi billion dollar endeavor world wide. People love their pets and in many cases, prefer them over humans. Think about having the same affection and companionship with a bot that never gets sick or ages.

Men, in general, have always been driven by the appearance to the eye. Men focus initially on the outward appearance of a woman's beauty. This explains the major cosmetic and clothing industry geared towards beautifying the woman. Woman, in general, may not put quite the same emphasis on a man's beauty but more on his personality, stability emotionally and financially. I believe, for these reasons the bot industry is focusing on the female bots first. Most of the research and development is being spent on the female bots. The engineers and designers see that men, will spend a lot of money to have a "perfect 10" as a steady home companion. If a sex bot can simulate intimacy close enough to a real life experience, most men will take that experience over a life long commitment of a complicated relationship with its ups and downs.

Many men get mental stimulation and purpose in life from their careers and worldly accomplishments. Having companionship and intimacy by means of a bot, could be simulated and be close enough to a real human experience that men will use this as a substitute. I know these are very general observations and not always the case. Bots can not provide a man a family and be a true "sole mate" like a real human female can. However, the market is betting that the companionship and intimacy will be sought after enough by men, to justify the intensive research and development that is going into this field.

Today's society seems to be more isolated. So many are on their smart phones texting, watching videos or playing games. Hardly anyone speaks to each other in public. I have even notice families, eating at restaurants, and no one is speaking to each other because they have their faces berried in their phones. Very few men have the social skills to approach woman in public or at work. Too many are awkward or lack self confidence (of course there are exceptions) to approach woman and start a conversation. Many will also say, that they are too busy with work and their careers, lacking the time necessary to find potential dates. I believe, this is why electronic internet dating services are so popular. If a man can order his companion bot and pick out all of it's features, he may prefer that out of convenience. He may also rationalize, that what he wants or fantasies would never be realized in real life but would be attainable with a bot.

If this becomes a reality, very soon with increased technology, I can see it becoming very difficult for real human women to compete. Men will simple order what they dream of and have their bot FedEx delivered to their front door. They can simple charge her up and off they go. He can order his pizza, play his video games and watch TV and have his companion ready 24/7 at a flick of a switch. I guess the same can go for a woman as well. She could design and have her male bot ready for her when she is home and wanting companionship at night. Either way, I see technology interfering with the traditional human arrangement. I can see, in the future, half the people at a shopping mall or a movie theater being with their bots and the other half being with their human partners.

I am sure, people who push the narrative that the Earth is over populated, would love to see the growth of companion bots being adopted over real human companionship. After all, the ultimate form of birth control and STD disease reduction will be a sale pitch for the sex bot industry.

I myself do not know what to think. I know this is coming, but I do not know how it will impact our society. I can see High Schools having their bring your bot to the dance party and Mr. and Ms. Home Coming bots at school. Perhaps, I will be too old or dead to worry about those days coming but my kids or grand kids will be around. I am sure governments and corporations will start having legislation regarding bot relationships as well. You know, all of the do's and don'ts of bot etiquette that we are supposed to follow. Perhaps, we are not too far off from the great science fiction movie reality of Blade Runner.
