Do you depend too much on technology for your business?

in #technology6 years ago (edited)

About a month ago, it was all over the Internet that there was a malware that affected more than 99 countries and over hundreds of thousands of computers were attacked. It affected the services of many businesses. According to information available, the name of the ransomware is WannaCry. WannaCry is the ransomware that was used to attack the businesses. This attack showed how many businesses relied too much on technology. This also shows how important it is for business owners to consider how much they depend on technology.

Check out the following scenarios if that is you.

A computer with a blank screen due to low Internet connectivity.

When the Internet is down, your business is down

If when your Internet connectivity is slow or not working and your employees are unable to work, it means that your business relies too much on the Internet. When you are unable to work because of this, it affects the productivity of your business. You need to work on a way to solve this problem. To ensure the growth of your business, this challenge has to be overcomed.

Automated replies.

All responses from you are automated

If all responses to your customers is automated when you are contacted via email or social media accounts, it also shows you rely so much on technology. Many customers may not know that these messages are automated though. Automated messages is commonly used by many companies. This can make you lose interaction with customers too. Such automated messages are usually followed with a human response, if not it can be discouraging to a customer.

A healthy business conversation.

You hardly talk to people about your business

When a business becomes successful online, many entrepreneurs fail to talk about their business offline. This shows that an entrepreneur is relying too much on the Internet. That is a wrong way to go about a business - unless it's solely an online product. There may even be people that cannot currently access the Internet but are in dire need of your product. You have to value the offline audience.

Texting with computers instead of talking.

You are texting someone seated close to you

It's so common these days. You see two people seated close to one another chatting instead of engaging in a "real life discussion". This is not really good for business, since such concentration on the phone would result in being unable to discuss with others. If you do this too, then you are relying too much on the Internet.

If you fall into all the scenarios above, you have to take some time to think about a solution. Your business should not be played with.

That WannaCry virus is affecting people all around the world, my aunt works on a private clinic in the section where they analyze blood, and the system they were using to manage all of the information about the patients and their accounts got infected by this virus.

I think it was asking for 4 btc to release the information but I am not sure, and they didn't paid... they obviously lost all of the information...

Wow! We have to be really careful not to fall into the hands of this ransomeware. This shows it affects people even in diverse fields. Thanks for sharing your aunt's experience.

yes really, the internet is very influential in life now, where all require technology.

Hmmmm wow.. Thanks for this. These days, especially with youths, our brains become dormant because of the work on the internet. Some people cannot even think out any simple thing straight without visisting google. This is so bad.
What den happens if theirs no data, or light to charge, etc... Everything then becomes boring and nothing to do. We should be mindful of this truly and put our heads to wotk and make out brains more active.

I'm your newest follower and I enjoyed everybit of your post. Awesome. Thanks

Right on point. We are relying too much in technology. I'm in no way playing down on the benefits of tech in this contemporary times. But if it is extended beyond it's boundaries, it rather becomes a problem than a help. I'm a medical laboratory science student and we deal with a lot of machines. There are some tests that when the results come, the scientist needs to use common sense and other theoretical basis to check for it's reliability. Machines are sometimes misleading. They may give false positives or false negative result due to some little mistake from the user. Let's be aware that machines are operated by humans and are sometimes faulty because of human flaws

Lol now I'm feeling like it was the virus that affected my PC.. Well thanks for the tips @jaff8 I'm sure they will come in handy

Thank you @jaff8 for your great observation. Its the truest state of our lives in the now, but I think its not very ideal. Yesterday, I met a young lady cry in a cab while returning from her work. She lost her fone. Virtually everything in her life was stored there. How will she start all over? Please keep preaching the message.

The problem right now is that with all these technological advancements everyone is trying to move with the wind. So more dependence on the internet and technology just to offer what others are offering and remain ontop.
