New Media Psychology Digest #20180113
Hey Steemers,
Here you find a selection of my findings about New Media Psychology.

Emotion Attribution to a Non-Humanoid Robot in Different Social Situations
Are humans able to extract the right emotion form the behaviour of a social robot?
Are we able to attribute guilty behaviour to a robot in a relevant context by examining the robot’s greeting behaviour?
The findings are positive: we are able.
As research says, we attribute human intentions and behaviour to something that behave like humans do.
And the more it’s able to mimic the human behaviour, the more we give it human attributes.

Neuro chip records brain cell activity
Researchers had been able to record the activity of a single neuron, or a a group of neuron for a short time.
But some brain processes occur along a longer time: how can we record such a prolonged activity?
I introduce you the bionic neuro chip able to record activity in animal cells for weeks at a much higher resolution.

What your social media profile photo says about your personality
If you think you are able to fake your Identity on social media think again: you always put something of you inside.
It’s not only about the content, but how and the meta-language.

The future of AI is neuromorphic. Meet the scientists building digital 'brains' for your phone
Think our CPUs are too slow?
Meet the neurotrophic chips: they work with spikes and burst of activity rather than clocked packs.
Usual CPUs work with clocked time: information is transmitted at regular interval as if managed by a metronome.
Neuromorphic chips mimic our neurons: information is packed using spikes, bursts of electric current that can be sent whenever needed.
The result?
They give power only when and how much needed, allowing more power with optimized energy consumption.

Really enjoy this post, everything about technology gets my attention, It grows so fast that it is very difficult to keep us updated. But about what can your picture say about yourself:
" People with high conscientiousness scores, for example, tended to show themselves on their own rather than in groups, and to express positive emotions in their pics. Those who scored as very open seemed to prefer artistic photos. Neurotic people tended strongly not to have their face visible at all." say one of the articles that you quote... make me think
how far we are from classifying a person by his profile picture?? Are we making this yet?? Sometimes I think we are. Very interesting post.
@nowonline thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated.
As for the post, yes we are going toward the quantified Self theory, a Self we extract from our data such as our smartwatches data, but not only.
Everything about ourselves has a quantity and a measure nowadays, so do our feelings and emotions.
And as the research goes on, we are able to extract more and more inner data from our expressions, gestures, etc.
Algorithms extract our data from our social streams too.
The result?
A new algorithm aiming to extract our personality from our face and match it with job offers, so that recruiters can focus only on the selected people.
Some Companies analyse our social streams to extract our personality and match it with their job offers.
Both of these technologies are already running.
It´s amazing, I´ve heard about it but I didnt know it is already running. Even thought I love all of this, don´t you wonder ... how can you measure a feeling?? from 1 to 10? how do you know ¨"your 10" is the same "10" of your brother or most close friend? if the photo the computer is analizing was taken in a " bad day" it will define your future job?? we´ll see.
I believe thecnology is an extra hand for humanity, to help us be better in every way, but we have to stay alert , we run the risk of losing our own humanity.
I´ll be ready to read your next post. You just won a follower...
