Smartphone of the future: what is it like?

in #technology6 years ago

Although some experts believe that sooner or later smartphones will replace other devices, such as extra-reality glasses, some are not entirely sure of the complete destruction of the technology industry. But what exactly will happen, how is this change in smartphones. Which ones? Imagine the same smarton of the future.

  1. Flexible - such smartphones were predicted to appear in 2012 and 2015, but only 2k17, and we do not see such smartphones, although specifically flexible displays are already available. ReFlex is the prototype of a smartphone from this scenario. In addition to the flexible case, here and updated software. For example, the pages of the book can be turned over simply by bending the smartphone.

  2. Folding design - although this is similar to the first point, but still a little different. Such smarftons can be folded or folded, straight, like a piece of paper. Judging by the fact that the gadget from the first point is already ready, this technique remains for us not long.

  3. Holograms are a favorite technology of science fiction fans. In practice, we are pretty close to this technology. So, already presented holographic smartphone HoloFlex. The image on the screen is built in such a way that everything looks three-dimensional. This is not the hologram we are dreaming about, but a pretty close prototype.

  4. Modularity - this has been talked about for a long time, but none of the developers has decided on this desperate step. But folding the phone to your liking would be much more convenient and, possibly, cheaper, as in the case of a PC.

  5. Self-healing - cracks, scratches and broken glass is exactly what is struck by almost everyone, even the best, smartphone. Scientists, however, find new ways and create self-healing materials. In April 2017, scientists at the University of California at Riverside, USA, presented an amazing self-healing material. Flexible transparent material conducts electricity, which makes it a good candidate for the role of a touch screen. But the main thing is that the material can be completely restored. Scratches and cracks on it simply dissipate.

  6. New input methods - something that is actively developing, one way or another. First we started with ordinary text messages, and now we also have voice input. But this is not the latest developments. Engineers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology introduced a technology called DuoSkin - it's about electronic tattoos that are remotely connected to a smartphone and defined as an external input device. Thus, a person has the opportunity to control the technique by touching the patterns on his own body.
