3 Crazy things out of CES in the last 48 hours

in #technology6 years ago

Every year in Las Vegas, The Consumer Electronics Show occurs in January. There's new technology galore. Some tech becomes a part of our everyday lives... other tech, goes away to die. These are three of the things from day 1 that I think will divide opinion!

Xenoma - Smart Shirt - For gaming?

It's a shirt that is a motion enabled controller, for video games. Yes. You can stand in one spot, flap your arms like you're running, jump, cry, sweat, and have a heart attack, and it will be converted via wireless wizardry into motions on a digital screen within a game engine.

Think Wii-Mote, but you ARE the wii-mote. I feel that this could work very well with VR, and combined with gloves, could make for excellent, truly amazing and immersive game play. Would definitely be great for fitness games. Feels like a gimmick at the price point offered though, $499USD.

Foldi-Mate! - A Machine that folds your clothes.

It's a machine that folds your laundry for you. Yet, you still have to handle every garment and place it precisely on the pad, before a series of gears, pulleys, and probably actual tiny children inside the machine fold your clothes, dispensing them out in a neat, nice and tidy pile.

They have a very, very amusing video advertisement on YouTube. I want to know how the thing works to see if I can turn it into some sort of macabre mincer, or origami making machine.

The Sgnl - Hear phone calls with your fingers, no really!

Bone conductive headsets and hearing aids have been around for many, many years now, but this is the first time it's been combined with bluetooth, in a consumer device that lets you place your fingers against your ears and hear the voice of your loved ones literally rumble their way through your bones.

With a bone-rattling technique to get sound into your ears, and being able to act like a super-hero, or secret agent while talking about the Susan, that bitch, you'll also feel like you're a much cooler person than you actually are. This thing was on kickstarer. You too, could look this ridiculous.

That's it for now! I might be back tomorrow with some other silly stuff from CES!

I wish I was actually there, though! All images / videos sourced from respective manufacturer webpages / channels
