Smartisan R1: The first smartphone with 1 TB storage on UFS 2.1 support
We would have expected the first 1TB internal smartphone to appear only next year, as Huawei was the only company to exceed the 256 GB threshold a month ago. Then was Porsche Design Mate RS, the first smartphone with 512 GB storage, but this value has already been doubled. Chinese company Smartisan has announced R1, the first phone on the market with 1 TB of internal storage, but it comes with a price, despite the fact that the basic model is quite cheap for the configuration it integrates.
Smartisan R1 is a top smartphone for 2018, equipped with Snapdragon 845 chipset, configurations with 6 or 8 GB RAM, 3,600 mAh battery and QuickCharge 4+ compatibility. On the front there is a cut-out screen, where only the camera is hidden, in a manner similar to that on the Essential Phone. The screen has a diagonal of 6.17 "and Full HD + resolution (2.242 x 1.080 pixels, 18.7: 9 format) and is based on an IPS panel, not AMOLED. But it has a rather rare feature nowadays: 3D Touch.
In the photo capture chapter, Smartisan R1 promises performance comparable to competition with a 12 + 20 megapixel (f / 1.8 + f / 1.75) dual camera system on the back, the main camera being equipped with optical stabilization. The front camera comes with a 24 megapixel sensor and the already famous beautify and portrait modes. But this model is not equipped with an audio jack, despite the fact that it would be a feature that would make it stand out.
The Smartisan will be released in China in several configurations, all of which are equipped with UFS 2.1 storage. The basic version with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage starts from $ 550, 6 GB + 128 GB will cost $ 630, 8 GB + 128 GB $ 706, and the top model, the world's first with 1 TB of storage and 8 GB RAM costs about $ 1390.
