RE: Off Grid DIY Powerwall Update: Building the Rack for the Powerwall

in #technology7 years ago

I think nine 260w is decent enough for a backup during the sunny days but poor if it's the only source of power. What type of batteries are you planning on incorporating on this quest? Gracias.

It totally is but we've just put off putting everything together for now as things have been really busy. We're using lithium ion battery packs

Lithium is better than the common lead acid batteries. More cycles and deeper discharge percentages. Just requires more finesse in terms of its charging parameters. But with an appropriate charge controller you are home free. If it won't be a bother, tag me whenever and if you decide to share the final working system. I'm a great fan of green energy. Gracias.

We agree about the lithium. A lot of people have told us we're wrong that we should be using lead acid batteries or worse iron phosphate, so we appreciate at least one comment telling us that someone out there understands LOL. Thank you :)

Lithium is the best value-for-money battery. Though costlier than lead acid but I still think it's money we'll spent. So I'd say it's the right choice you guys made.
