Let me start to define Appropriate technology as the technology that is suitable to the social and economic conditions of the geographic area in which it is to be applied, is environmentally sound, and promotes self-sufficiency on the part of those using it. Appropriate technology can help boost the economy of Nigeria in the following ways ;
1.) Using Household water filters - This can be purchased or constructed from local materials and used for treating dirty, contaminated water to make it safe for drinking. This reduces the number of waterborne diseases which is a leading cause of death in Nigeria.
Another way which appropriate technology can help boost the economy is by using Improved 2.)Cook stoves. This can be very simply made clay or metal structures which can improve the efficiency of burning solid fuels for cooking and reduce the possibility of smoke inhalation and related diseases.
If these can be made possible, it will help boost the economy of Nigeria.
