INFO 1-NASA releases new maps of Pluto

------NASA has released new maps of Pluto and its largest moon, Charon, revealing their complex terrain.
On July 14, 2015, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft made its historic flight through the Pluto system – providing the first close-up images of Pluto and its moons and collecting other data that has transformed our understanding of these mysterious worlds on the solar system’s outer frontier.
Scientists are still analysing and uncovering data that New Horizons recorded and sent home after the encounter.
On the two-year anniversary of the flyby, the team is unveiling a set of detailed, high-quality global maps of Pluto and Charon.
“The complexity of the Pluto system — from its geology to its satellite system to its atmosphere — has been beyond our wildest imagination,” said Alan Stern, New Horizons principal investigator from the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado.
“Everywhere we turn are new mysteries. These new maps from the landmark exploration of Pluto by NASA’s New Horizons mission in 2015 will help unravel these mysteries and are for everyone to enjoy,” Stern added.
The spacecraft is now 5.7 billion kilometres from Earth, venturing deeper into the distant, mysterious Kuiper Belt to reach its next target.
On New Year’s Day 2019, New Horizons will zoom past a Kuiper Belt object known as 2014 MU69, NASA said.

Scientists have discovered a very distant galaxy, some 10 thousand million light years away, which is about 1,000 times brighter than the Milky Way. It is the brightest of the submillimetre galaxies, which have a very strong emission in the far infrared, researchers said.
Scientists led by Anastasio Diaz-Sanches from Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) in Spain used gravitational lensing that acts as a sort of magnifier, changing the size and intensity of the apparent image of the original object.

Scientists have developed a 3D-printed soft silicone heart that closely resembles and functions like the human organ, and could help save lives of people who suffer from cardiac failure. The well-functioning artificial heart is a real necessity, researchers said.
About 26 million people worldwide suffer from heart failure while there is a shortage of donor hearts. Artificial blood pumps help to bridge the waiting time until a patient receives a donor heart or their own heart recovers. The soft artificial heart weighs 390 grammes and has a volume of 679 cubic centimetres.
However, it currently lasts for about only 3,000 beats, which corresponds to a lifetime of half to three quarters of an hour. After that, the material can no longer withstand the strain. “This was simply a feasibility test. Our goal was not to present a heart ready for implantation, but to think about a new direction for the development of artificial hearts,” said Cohrs.

Marvel is giving users a chance to step into the shoes of its Avengers characters. A game announced at Disney’s D23 Expo, called Powers United VR, will have users become Rocket Raccoon, The Hulk etc. in a virtual reality world. HMD Global – the Finnish company that owns the rights to manufacture Nokia-branded smartphones – is closer to launch its most expensive device till date. Rumours have been going back and forth over HMD Global’s upcoming flagship smartphone. It could be either the Nokia 8 or the Nokia 9. However, according to German website WinFuture, HMD Global’s next-generation phone is the Nokia 8 with the model number TA-1004.
Rumours have largely pointed the Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 would be launched in the second-half of the year. It’s also being assumed that the phone with the model number TA-1004 will launch as the Nokia 9. Now it appears the Finnish company has finally decided to launch its first high-end phone, and it will be marketed as the Nokia 8.
The report claims the Nokia 8 will be a premium phone that’s going to sport a Snapdragon 835 processor – the latest chipset from Qualcomm. Further, the device will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. WinFuture also reports the Nokia 8 will come with dual-SIM cards in Europe, but the company is likely to offer the single SIM variant of the device as well.

The most recent bank to issue such a warning is the central bank of Albania. The bank issued a strong statement warning citizens that digital currencies were not under the direct purvey of the country’s banking sector regulations and that such vehicles carried extremely high levels of risk.

The Albanian authorities stated:

“We appeal to the Albanian public to be mature and responsible in the administration of savings or liquidity they possess. One should orient investments toward financial products and instruments offered by institutions licensed and supervised by the Bank of Albania and the Financial Supervisory Authority.”

The anonymity and decentralization provided by Bitcoin made nefarious activity not only possible, but probable, and the bank warned against the clear risks taken by those choosing to invest.

Bitcoin enthusiasts would clearly point out that a centralized bank is the very essence of what Bitcoin is seeking to distance itself from, and so a less than glowing review would be expected.
