If you are self-hosting applications or managing client websites on dedicated hardware, server efficiency is crucial. When your server slows down or crashes during traffic spikes, traditional web servers like Apache are often the culprit due to their heavy process-per-request models.

Enter OpenLiteSpeed (OLS)
OpenLiteSpeed is a high-performance, lightweight, open-source web server. It brings several massive advantages to bare-metal servers:

Event-Driven Architecture: Similar to Nginx, it easily handles thousands of concurrent connections with minimal CPU and RAM usage.

LSCache: A powerful, built-in full-page cache that integrates flawlessly with major CMS platforms.

LSPHP: LiteSpeed uses its own highly optimized PHP handler that outperforms standard PHP-FPM.

I've written a complete, command-by-command guide on how to deploy OpenLiteSpeed from scratch on an Ubuntu dedicated server. It covers everything from installing dependencies to opening the correct ports (7080 and 8088) and configuring the Web Admin Console.
