Dell surprises with a redesigned XPS 13 that's thinner, faster and a little controversial

in #technology7 years ago

The Dell completely redesigned XPS 13 is said to be the fastest 13-inch laptop in the city and comes with a superb elegant white option.

Subtle improvements include dual interior fans and heat pipes, a place and camera, and even fingerprint reading.

Dell's XPS 13 is stepping out to 2018 with a major makeover. Perhaps the company has heard the cries of professional hardware reviewers about XPS 13 look two years old (although some companies have used the same basic design for nearly eight years)? Right. More likely, it was just time for this laptop to set some new trends in areas of thin, light, and fast.

It is not easy to make a major change-flagship of tradition. But this time, it seems no part of the XPS 13 has been left untouched. The price is Excepted to start at $999 and be available immediately. Here are the details.

Slimmed-down specs and perks
Already known for having a smaller footprint, Dell has managed to shrink the entire volume of laptops by 24 percent. Dell shaved 3.4 mm thickness compared to previous models, for example; Its new dimensions are a jockey-thin 11.9 x 7.8 x 0.46 inches

Dell's XPS 13 gets a complete redesign to make it faster, thinner, lighter and more beautiful.

The next-generation Infinityedge bezel is 23 percent thinner than the previous version, which was already very slim. Dell obviously has no more room at the top for the webcam than it ever did, but at least it has gone from the lower left corner of the lower center of the display.

That new webcam is also now an infrared camera that supports Windows Hello face authentication. You would rather not use your head to unlock your laptop, Dell has cleverly integrated a fingerprint reader into the power button that just sits atop the keyboard.

The performance options of XPS 13 now include an optional 4k UltraHD resolution screen with a maximum brightness of 100 percent SRGB color rating and 400 nits. Those are shiny specs, but unless you enjoy seeing your battery drain you probably opt for the standard 1080p display.

Inside XPS 13 is the same original 8th generation Core i7 quad-core that is refreshed with the first movie a few months ago that Dell is the last XPS 13. Performance on the latest XPS 13 is a unnat cooling system that goes by an even heat-pipe and is beefed up by fan design to a dual fan and dual heat pipe.

The result, Dell claims, is "the most powerful 13-inch laptop in its class." Dell reveals its test against competing laptops the new XPS 13 HP spectral gra more than recognizable competitors such as X360 13t, Microsoft Surface Book 2, and MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Gle kick.

We'll have to wait for a test before rendering a verdict, but our review of 8th-gen Intel Core I7 tells us that the new quad-core CPU is a game changer, so there may be some truth to the claims.

Battery life, Dell said, is still pretty awesome, with new laptops most rated in about 11 hours of power-hungry Vinyas: Core i7, 16GB LPDDR3, 1TB SSD and 4k panel. Lightning will hit a core i5, version Sipper with 4GB of LPDDR3, 128GB SSD and 1080p screen, 19 hours and 46 minutes, according to Dell. Note, however, that measuring rod Mobilemark 2014, which is pretty light duty. More typical browsing is the unmid of far less battery life at work, perhaps with half the battery life rated in some video tasks. Overall, it's not bad for some small battery hours of 52 watts.

Elegance
Because Dell didn't just splurge on the inside, it's all about what it's out too, as it knows today's laptop buyer. In addition to the standard aluminum and carbon fibre models, Dale said more than a dozen people burn over 11,520 hours to find a new gold and XPS 13 white model of Rose.

And don't, it's not just color, Dale said: White Palm rests, for example, are woven from nine layers of crystalline silica glass fibers. That is enough fibre, says Dell, that if you laid the unhen until the end – Finally, they would stretch from Earth to half way to the moon.

See, hardware and software are not difficult. It is fashion engineers who are true heroes.

This feud
The change doesn't come without controversy, though, and we saved for the last to stop you from mashing your fist into your screen.

Good news: Dell now includes two Thunderbolt 3 ports, plus a USB-C port. You also get a 45 watt USB C charger. There is also a MicroSD card reader and a great lock port.

The bad news: we have the beautiful expanded ports listing on XPS 13. Yes, Dell actually left the universal USB type – one behind "to save space."

Are you triggered, or have you already used the companies to see the removal of popular ports when you weren't paying attention? OK, less Dell gives you a USB-a dongle in the box. Oh, and it had the courage to maintain an analog combo head fons jack. For now.

Dell XPS 13 is arguably the way to the Anya windows to thin and lead the lights in the past.
