Cool New Anticipated Smartphone Features in 2018

in #technology7 years ago (edited)

Hello guys,

I don’t know about you but it seems like smartphones have started to maybe stagnant a little bit, it’s almost like all the best features we can imagine have already been put on the phones. But obviously, that's not true and hopefully, companies will come up with new killer features that we never thought of and just blow our minds.

I do have some features that I think we’re gonna start to see a lot more if they have been introduced at all and if we don’t see it this year, then hopefully next year at the latest. I’d be very surprised if this feature weren’t at least present in next year’s phones.

High refresh rate smartphone screen displays

This is the first feature which I’m actually extremely surprised we’ve not seen more of in smartphones especially with the Galaxy s9 release. 120Hz or high refresh rate screens, in general, would be an amazing upgrade for phones and phone manufacturers and it’s such a fundamental improvement.

It’s so apparent that when you’re using your phone or any screen with a high refresh rate, it will be very easy to promote as a killer feature. I kinda wonder why phone manufacturers haven’t put this feature already, maybe they’re just keeping up their sleeves till they run out of other features.

In-screen fingerprint readers

This feature is the one that we’ve kind of seen that is possible but we haven’t seen it in any flagship phones. I do believe that Apple was trying to put this in the iPhone 10 and they weren’t able put to it in time that’s why they used face ID. But I do think that other manufacturers are going to wanna use this in-screen fingerprint sensors because first of all, it allows them to use much higher screen-to-body ratio and it’s just cool.

I think the reason why it hasn’t really been put into this year’s smartphone is because it’s first generation. It’s kinda possible but it might not perform nearly as well as a regular fingerprint sensor. Maybe after this year, then they will enhance the technology to really make it as good as external fingerprint sensor.

Enhanced Bluetooth

I also hope to see Bluetooth that is actually decent and not crappy cos we’re actually getting Bluetooth 5 on most phones now. If you don’t already know, Bluetooth 5 has a couple of interesting features like in-door positioning which allows more triangulation basically between devices and it more suited for internet of things (IOT) which means that it’s gonna be a lot more useful in general and in addition to increase in the bandwidth.

Like I mentioned, it has in-door positioning system where it can be able to tell other devices where exactly your device is located so if you lose your phone within your couch or something, it can actually tell you exactly where it is.

Facial recognition

This is another authentication method we’re gonna start to see a lot more of this year. Facial recognition, authentication and unlocks by default are cool but I do dislike it if it comes in total replacement of the fingerprint sensor. But I do think with Apple’s face ID and people apparently like it, there is going to be a lot more phones that will introduce this feature.

5G

This is a big one, and we might not see it this year in flagships but hopefully, next year we will. This have been worked on by cellphone companies for a while, you’ve been hearing about it and cellphone companies said that they’ll probably be able to build the infrastructure by the end of this year.

They’ve been trial-testing it in places like Texas and hopefully by the end of this year, they’ll actually roll it out for customers. It might not be everywhere but at least in metropolitan cities and if you have a smartphone that does support it. I think next year is when we’re gonna start to get those phones that actually do support 5G.

I definitely think that 5G is going to be a game changer and YES! I do think that it’ll hopefully come out by the end of this year, almost certainly by the end of next year. I think companies are gonna want to be able to get this out as fast as they can and phone manufacturers probably already starting to plan their support for it.

Those are some features that I think we’re gonna see this year or hopefully by the end of next year, although I’m not in any of this companies but they might literally be holding back this features so that they can sell your phones for years in the future.
