Italian Court Halts Ban On Uber

Not long ago an Italian court decided to issue a ban on Uber, over allegations of unfair competition. After the ruling, they were only given a few days to halt their services within the country. Uber's legal team didn't waste any time in appealing that decision.

And for now that ban has been put on hold.

A judge in Rome has halted the Uber injunction, in-effect suspending the lower courts decision, and Uber is allowed to remain for now and continue with its operations until the courts can appeal the ruling.

Uber has vowed that it is going to continue fighting in court and its officials with the company have urged both riders and drivers to continue using the Uber app in the country, until the appeal is finalized.

Prominent consumer groups, like UNC and Codacons, in the country have celebrated the decision, saying that it gives people in the country more choice.

Taxi drivers in Italy have been very active in organizing multi-day strikes against their competitors. We have seen this conflict arise not only in Italy but in many other areas as well. And in many instances things have turned quite violent. Their protests have led to taxi drivers assaulting Uber drivers and even burning their cars.

Despite the setbacks from various areas trying to halt the service, Uber continues to flourish as a company and has seen quite frequent success with its regulatory hurdles. The company also pulled in over $6.5 billion from 2016.

Uber is the future. I do not understand why taxi drivers dont adapt to new technology and are still fighting...

You would wonder the same especially in the Philippines where taxi drivers struggle to pay the taxi owners their daily bounty or requirements. Uber is the future like you said and it is becoming mainstream in PH but there are still many taxis. Most taxi drivers here are older men!

Wonderful post! Congratulations!

People who burn cars of others, and violently assault them need to be brought to justice. That is all I am seeing here.

All else seems to be free trade and interaction among humans who want to go places.
