Drones: Cost, Efficiency, And Market Outlook

In a new drones report from BI Intelligence, it's estimated that the drone market could see growth top $12 billion by the year 2021.

Shipments of consumer drones are also on the rise (see in figure below) and are being used for a number of tasks: recording football and other sports practices, covering news coverage stories, being used to take travel photos and recording content videos for social media sites, and more.

The shipments of consumer drones are expected to quadruple within just the next 5 years.

Drones are getting easier for beginners to use and they are one of the most popular tech items out there at the moment. We can expect to see prices get better and see more variation in the market for drone options, so long as the continued interest fuels the drone trend and market competition.

Drones are expected to only get better in the future, updated with technology like geo-fencing and the ability to avoid collisions, it's going to make them safer to fly and perhaps ease-up the worries of regulators.

Aside from commercial drone growth, it's also expected that the military will also see growth with their drone sector.. because you know, the success rate is so efficient and all..

The military sector is expected to surpass all other sectors when it comes to drone spending, especially with the growing number of nations that are seeking to acquire them. It's estimated that 1 military US drone costs between $2500-3500 per flight hour. These drones collectively cost tens of millions of dollars every year and the majority of the time they fail to succeed at getting the right target. Last year it's estimated that the Pentagon spent about $3 billion on drones and one of the largest suppliers of drones to the U.S. military is AeroVironment.

$3 Billion....

Drone Sales Have Tripled In The Last Year

In the last year, drone sales have dramatically surged and it's estimated that there was about $200 million sales in drones for last year. It is estimated that sales could increase from about 2.5 million drones to roughly 7 million or more by the year 2020. If it does reach that level, that would be an increase of about 180 percent.

The variety of drones available on the market for commercial use today have greatly increased over the last few years. Everything from social media popularity to extreme sports hobbies and more, are helping to fuel this trend and prompt people into becoming familiar with this technology. The price does vary for different drones, but the majority of people who buy a drone are usually spending at least $500 or more on it.

Fun for photos, but trying to kill terrorists with drones has lead to a big shortage of shepherds in the Middle East.

Every time I see commercials for possibly using drones I always laugh....why? I'd be one of those people minding their own business and being smacked at the back of my head by one delivering a book to a neighbor....lol.
