Computer Building/Overclocking contest!

So in honour of having two high-end PC's me and a friend decided to have a competition to see who could push their PC further and win in a set of competitions. The catch? We are comparing a gaming PC to a workstation PC! Yes, you can compare apples and oranges and don't you dare disagree!

We decided we would compare our PC's in a variety of areas, including CPU (benchmarks and real world), GPU (gaming and photo editing), Ram, and SSD's. As well as overall performance while running multiple tasks. We started our challenge with synthetic benchmarks for our CPU's. Below are the specs of our two PCs!

If anyone else out there wants to join in and post their results I'd be more than happy to see them! Challenge yourself!

PC #1 (Him)
Ryzen 1700 8 cores @3.83ghz stable
1080 8gb
8gb DDR4 @ 2400mhz
ASUS Prime X370-Pro
256gb SSD (idk the brand)
And some other stuff I don't care about.

PC #2 (me)
Intel 8700k 6 cores @5.0ghz stable
1060 6gb
32 DDR4 @ 2600mhz (overclocked slightly)
MSI Tomahawk
256gb Crucial SSD
That's all that matters right?

This is an ongoing competition mainly for learning and fun, and today we started with CPU's. We decided on a set of benchmarks, and we'll do some real world stuff at a later date!

After about 4 1/2 hours, I managed to get 5ghz at 1.280 volts across six cores while he managed to get 3.83 across 8 cores at 1.450 volts. Neither of us could push any further at all as we just encountered crash after crash (and 100 degree CPU temp crashes for me... I really wanted 5.1...). Neither of us was capable going higher than these clock speeds due to heat and BSOD issues. So what are the results??

Temperature

(don't worry! I've got this under control now, but I still must minus points for myself :'( )
8700k = 95 degree average
1700 = 75 degree average
8700k lags with 79% heat performance.

So! From the benchmarks these are the first day of results (real world lightroom tests coming soon :D)

Me: 379
Him: 338.7

Don't ask about the scoring system, it's genius!

But.... If you do want to ask about the scoring, I will explain. To begin with, we divide 100 by the highest scorer. This amount is then multiplied by the score of the lower person. This shows what percentage of the higher score the lower scorer had. While we could use different systems, this provides the best balance and means that one person wont totally decimate the other in a specific score (such as my 32gb of ram vs his 8gb).
