Computer science (English: Computer Science), Generally interpreted as a science that studies both about computing, hardware (hardware) and software (software). Computer science covers a wide range of computer-related topics, ranging from abstract analysis of algorithms to more concrete subjects such as programming languages, software, including hardware. As a discipline, Computer Science emphasizes more on computer programming, and software engineering (software), while computer engineering is more likely to be related to things like computer hardware (hardware). However, both terms are often misunderstood by many people.

The Church-Turing thesis states that all commonly known computing tools are exactly the same in terms of what they can do, albeit with different efficiencies. This thesis is sometimes regarded as a basic principle of computer science. Computer scientists typically emphasize the von Neumann computer or Turing machine (a computer that does small and deterministic tasks at a given time), because that's the way most computers are used today. Computer scientists also study other types of machines, some of which can not be used practically (such as neural computers, DNA computers, and quantum computers) and some are still quite theoretical (such as random computers and oracle computers).

Computer Science learns what some programs can do, and what does not (computability and artificial intelligence), how the program should evaluate an outcome (algorithm), how the program should store and retrieve certain bits of information (data structure), and how programs and users communicate (user interface and programming languages).

Computer science is rooted in electronics, mathematics and linguistics. In the last three decades of the 20th century, computer science has become a new discipline and has developed its own methods and terms.

The first computer science department was founded at Purdue University in 1962. Almost all universities now have computer science departments.

The highest award in computer science is the Turing Award, the award winner is all the pioneers in his field.

Edsger Dijkstra says:

"Computer science is not about computers as astronomy is not about telescopes"

Physicist Richard Feynman said:

"Computer science is not as old as physics, it's a few hundred years younger, but it does not mean that the" food "of computer scientists is so much less than physicists, it's younger, but much more intensively raised!"
