Strange Guns: The Apache Revolver
This weird old gun design was 3 weapons in one! Its parts include a knife, pistol and set of brass knuckles that all easily fold together.
The Apache Revolver design dates from the 1860s and is credited to Louis Dolne. The gun was manufactured in Belgium until the end of the 1800s. It was made notorious by the French criminal group of the early 1900s known as Les Apaches.
This single action six-shot is chambered for 7.6 mm caliber cartridge, and when the bullet leaves the chamber, it passes through a hole on the left side of the upper frame—needing no barrel at all!.
Because the pistol is designed without a barrel it's effective range is only a few feet. The retractable knuckle duster grip is useful if hand-to-hand combat ensues, and if that is not enough, the folding triangular blade can also be used for stabbing.
With everything folded up, this weapon will easily go into any clothes pocket.
Since not a lot of Apache revolvers were manufactured in the early 1900s, original ones in good condition are both rare and desired by collectors.

That is one weird gun. I don't think neither of its functions there would even kill but to only make a considerable damage to its victim.
Maybe that is the idea of the inventor. To scare away.

What a strange weapon - obviously designed with close combat in mind.
With no trigger guard, though, I'd be nervous about blowing something important off when I went to pull it out of my pocket.
Were these used exclusively in Europe? I wonder if any of them made it into the American Civil War.
Maybe not. Manufacturing occurred after the war.

so belgian's are technically advance at decade of 1860 which effectively invention by louis dole, good feature with folding in pocket for carry, 7.6 callibar and a usefull knife is installed. i am totaly impressed with the gun.
wow what a unique revolver that was, it's so small and easily absorb in pocket, it's great weapon to use in self defense and no doubt it's all in one sort of thing, i really like that one fantastic weapon, thanks for sharing

i am from asia my friend and yes i love weapons, not in sense to use them roughly but i like weapons to use for self defense.
