WARNING! Someone can be using your PC to mine crypto
Hi, Have you seen your PC or Internet are slower than the normal? Is your computer hottest than ever?
Your computer can be being used by a hacker to mine cryptocurrency, using a Bitcoin miner. About it is what we'll talk in this post.
What is a Bitcoin miner?
A Bitcoin miner is a virus that overuse your CPU and/or GPU for mining Bitcoins or other cryptocurrency (without your consent) from your PC to send it to someone (a hacker surely).
Now, how can I know if it’s my case?
It’s simple. Close all your running programs, go to task manager and see if anytime your CPU acts weird or some process eats a lot of RAM memory. Or if your think that the miner is in a web page, just open only this web page and see in your task manage if the browser eats a lot of CPU and RAM.
Like these:
When miners use a web page that you're visiting
And how can I avoid or delete them?
Let me answer you, there some ways:
First, for all security install a good antivirus software, preferably one that can block malicious web pages and can scan and detect rootkits.
Use an anti-malware, Malwarebytes, RogueKiller or Dr. Web Cureit! Are good options.
Additional tip scan when you’ve downloaded the AM software, update the database and make an offline scan. (only if you’re not in cloud scan)
Install extensions like No Coin, these can block mining scripts on your browser.
Install adblock extension, this famous extension blocks miners too. However if you use faucets, you cannot use adblock because so many faucets don't allow you to use it. So it’s easier to use only a extension to block miners.
Search the suspicious websites with NotMining.
Don't use torrents.
The last, the logical, the most difficult, don’t get out of your comfort zone, only famous and trusted web pages, nothing of “weird” pages.
If you know that i'm forget one or more tips, please tell me in the comments box.
