Ethical Hacking or ethical hackers are the terms used to describe the hacking of a computer network by an individual or a company to identify the potential threats on that specific computer network. The purpose of ethical hacking to find those potential weaknesses of a company which can be easily exploited by the hackers in the long run. An ethical hacker try to hack the system security and search for those weak points which can be easily be exploited by malicious hackers. 

There are some rules which an ethical hacker has to follow in order to perform an ethical hacking:

• An express written consent to hack the network for the purpose of identifying the potential threats to the system.
• An ethical hacker has to respect the privacy of concerned network. 
• After identifying all the potential threat to the system, close out all your work from that network, not leaving anything for a hacker to hack into.
• If an ethical hacker has found some potential threat to the network while conducting ethical hacking, then it's his responsibility to make the company's software developer aware about those potential threats.

How to become an ethical hacker

Well, there are numerous institutes offering some examination and training programs for the ethical hacking. One of them is eccouncil.org 

This institute offers two courses regarding ethical hacking: ECC & VUE

Both examinations consists of Multiple choice questions, has to be completed within 4 hours.

Criticism About Ethical Hacking

There are a lot of criticism about this topic among the IT professionals. Some say that there's no such thing as ethical hacking. Hacking is always hacking, there;s no ethical about it and no matter what you do, people who hacks a computer network will always be considered as an equal to a criminal. However, the work that ethical hackers do for organizations has helped greatly in improving their computer network security and can be said to be quite effective and successful.  

I personally believe there's always two side of everything, even humans - the positive and the negative side. Even the best intentions can cause some damage sometimes. So, If a person is doing some good with good intentions, then it is good, Period. 

Although, nowadays hackers has been really active. It can be seen with latest hacking malware ''WannaCry". This kind of hacking activities are increasing rapidly. So, we need ethical hackers to improve our systems with focused advise by ethical hackers.
