Flamethrower Drones - For Good or Evil

Think of a drone throwing flames like a dragon. 

This probably sounds somewhat disturbing, however the system in the first video below is engineered to replace humans in a very dangerous job, namely cleaning up power lines.    

On the technology level, what is impressive about the system is not the fact that it can throw flames. The real challenge is to fly CLOSE ENOUGH to the power lines, without hitting them. You need advanced sensors communicating effectively with autopilot software, etc, etc, etc.

Using a similar system as a weapon would be a simpler task (unfortunately). In the next video you see something that in the US is, apparently, "technically, not illegal".

That is quite disturbing to me.

Both disturbing and actually pretty amazing IMO.

I imagine a future with drones wars above our heads (quite disturbing but possible, too).

I love the concept of drone, but of course I don't like the idea of war and destruction, so let's work for peaceful, friendly drones!
