I don't drink much soda so I never considered purchasing one of these due to the cost. I wasn't sure how I expected it to work but I noticed that the syrup is added manually after the carbonation is complete. My wife and I do drink quite a bit of sparkling water with just lemon or lime in it as well as in alcoholic drinks. Without having to buy syrup and picking up a used unit it could be a money saver for us.
