Why should companies invest in 3D printing

in #technology7 years ago (edited)

The 3D technology is interesting for several sectors of activity and there are several factors that go beyond the costs of exploration that are important for the option for this technology rather than more traditional ones. We can look back and see that this indecision by the business sector has already happened. Just think of email vs mail, internet vs phone, digital vs analog, etc., in all these situations the operating costs at the beginning were higher than the current ones, but there were companies that chose to follow this route!

Why? Why invest in a more expensive technology that does the same thing?

There are several aspects! Speed, ease, convenience, innovation, etc ... But will it enough!?

No! So in the case of 3D printing why should I choose to go for this technology rather than the traditional ones !?

Already thought that your commercial network at this moment only proposes to your customers solutions that already exist, a solution that someone has created. It will not be more interesting to offer solutions to your customer completely personalized and authentic for the same cost.
One particular case, imagine that you're a marketer! Now imagine that you are proposing an advertising campaign for a children's film. Is it easier to create a better campaign with just the offer you know (printed canvas, videos ads, flyers, muppies, billboards, etc.) or printing the hero of the movie in real size and put it at a mall? Print movie scenarios to decorate an children's park?!

Whenever you sell something, you either manufacture it or you will buy it from the factory, and you know who manufactures profit! If you start manufacturing your product, that profit will be yours for a lower cost than setting up a factory to manufacture using traditional technology.

You will not depend on an outside company to have your product!

Do not forget that any 3D printer is a manufacturing unit!

Yes the costs are higher than the existing factories price! But do not forget that the 3D printing is at the beginning and as such as massification starts the prices will go down and many more people will enter the market! But there is one factor that you have more than all your new competitors! Know-how, your company will know how to produce more and better than most newly created companies.

When we talk about custom parts their cost through the current manufacturing methods go up exponentially while with 3D printing their cost will be the same, the quality will be the same and the reproducibility the same! This does not exist with current technologies.

Possibility of making extremely complex models with the same simplicity!

We are in the age of technology and digital but most of today's manufacturing methods are still analog. 3D printing is the revolution in manufacturing methods.

Very interesting reading!!
You sure touch on very pertinent facts around personal 3dLabs.

Keep it Up!

Thanks! Not just personal 3dlabs also for established companies that want to diversify.

I've always wanted to try out a 3D printer! They seem awesome and the math and problem solving is right up my alley!

Nowadays is easy to try. I'm not getting your second frase.

Basically I was getting that the problem solving while using 3D printing is interesting to me.

For sure. If you need help let me know! I could help you.

I've been providing 3D printing services for the past 3 years. It's such a weird market to be in.
Most people have no clue how things are 3D printed and there's very little customer base that knows how to produce a printable model. There's some cheap printers on the market but all of the cheap ones are poorly made in my opinion.

Very nice for you! In short future we will see a very big rise of 3D printing industry. Normally the cheap printers do not have the same quality than other. But look for prusa in FFF machines and XYZ Printing Nobel 1.0A in SLA.

Wow both of those printers have really great price points along with excellent precision. The biggest thing that I see that will increase the value of 3D printers on a personal level is the use of AI for the printing process.

Using AI? what are you think about it?

The average Jane or Joe has problems turning on a normal inkjet printer. 3D printers are too frustrating and I believe many people stop using there's after a few months.
