I always use VmWare as a Virtual Machine software, since it was the only one I can good pretty stable results out of it.
Getting them to work properly can be quite challenging but what I can recommend (if you happen to be in this situation ) is to use a lightweight distro. I for example use Arch as my daily driver coupled with some light software. VmWare works like a charm on it and i can even get Windows 10 to run quite properly.
windows 10 has its own VM hyper-V which is also very stable and fast.
