Netflix, no more AirPlay support on iOS due to technical problems

in #technology5 years ago

The Netflix application for iOS has lost a fundamental functionality for users loyal to the Apple ecosystem. According to an updated support document available on the company's website, Netflix for iOS no longer gives the possibility to share multimedia streaming with third-party devices via AirPlay due to technical problems . The support team did not specify the exact motivation remaining vague.

"AirPlay is no longer supported on Netflix due to technical limitations , " the message reads. The AirPlay icon to share the stream previously present on the iOS client has been completely removed from the app and, in addition, if you try to activate the feature through the Control Center an error message will be presented informing you that the content it cannot be reproduced, advising to try again later.

It is not clear if the choice is temporary or definitive, what is clear is that a typical function of any multimedia app is now inhibited on one of the most widespread and used streaming platforms. The loss of support for AirPlay for the Netflix app for iOS comes following the expansion of Apple's technology on a multitude of third-party TVs, such as models from Samsung, LG, Sony, and others.

Many of the TVs on the market also support Netflix natively, thus offering a more convenient way to use the contents of the service. Despite all the possibility to send the streaming from the smartphone to the TV was definitely interesting in some contexts, especially on TVs no longer recent or with a version of Netflix dated . We do not know when and if AirPlay support will return to Netflix for iOS , and all that remains is to stay tuned to the App Store to identify the roll-out of an update in this regard.
