A War on Technology
I listened to a podcast yesterday and it raised some compelling questions. The one that stuck with me most was about a coming war on technology. Are we living in the time of the great technological backlash?
We’ve seen the backlash against the ridesharing economy. Uber and Airbnb has been targeted for a lot of reasons but ultimately it’s all about stopping their disruption of the status quo. Even incumbent tech joining the luddite crusade. They too wants to stop the bleeding. When the politicians get involved it gets even nastier for technology. They have the power to pass ignorant laws that benefits primarily the fear mongers. Doesn’t matter that it hinders progress and people die as a consequence. It’s all in the name of killing what they can’t control. The morons wants to inherit the land. Any and everything progressive is seen as alien. They want their cave back and the plantation too. They want polio and tuberculosis to infect millions again while scientists haven’t even cured HIV or ebola. Why a sick mindset is gaining traction in a modern world is mind boggling. And it’s all hypocritical.
The same ones who hate on the geeks are addicted to the things that geeks make. The luddites would die without their smartphones and their Facebook profiles. They cherish their ipads but they hate Uber. They binge on netflix but support censorship of the web because they are moral citizens and the Internet is filthy. Something’s amiss. They bite the hands of the same progress that they can’t live without.
There’s a fear brewing in the world from the ones who lost control. Their lives lost meaning when the younger generation saw through the hypocrisy. Technology gave the kids that outlet to find out for themselves. They saw the ugly but also the possibilities of changing their future. And the status quo is livid. It wants to keep selling all the illusions that made their system great but the kids just want an earth that is less broken and a lot less poisonous.
I feel the war coming not so much to kill the tech but cripple it. They can’t turn back the clock but definitely will try to suppress the power and autonomy that tech brings. Algorithms run the trading on wall street. They can’t live without that. But then there’s cryptocurrencies which is out of their control for now. Crypto empowers us and that can’t be tolerated so they will fight it on every front. They will play nice with crypto if they have to, just to control it. Bitcoin is the first casualty. Am not holding my breath for what comes next.
Various Governments are looking into a Universal Basic Income. For some people (mainly parasites that hate working for a living) this is great, but it's likely to cause massive inflation due to the use of this money to buy lots of goods. The European Union is, along with groups such as NGOs, blaming robotics for the loss of jobs (which is the reason for the UBI). I wonder how many people will support limits on the amount of machines being used to do the heavy lifting as an excuse to halt progress. I personally love the idea of human-machine hybrids (or Cyborgs) because there won't be machines 'taking our jobs' as we'd be the machines. Let's hope we can keep going without politicians being able to slow things do too much in an attempt at killing the future we're all working towards.

I would beg to differ , it's a bunch of bullshit, people have the ground below their feet to provide for everyone,
and if it's done right it's a lovely experience sure you won't laze around and do nothing , you would have to work hard and everyone will also, I think it's high past people start working together rather than for somebody, or something, especially politicians, most are sucky slimes.
The time of national interest and unity are kind of past for the high ones, they seem to be concerned with their well being and the "good of the world" but lack the humility to ask people and work for them rather than for whatever has poisoned their minds.
I would love to work and share the abundance with everyone , we can grow so much food , so much color, w can cooperate , not corporate. I would say freedom and abundance are the only thing that can provide Universal Basic Income , when everyone is there for one another , bu we can only wish and remember is exists :)
