Samsung and Qualcomm are two companies that need each other, while competing with each other. Chipset 8895 itself comes with the first modem that supports downlink speeds up to 1Gbps, which makes it the fastest. Now Samsung is upgrading existing modems to Exynos 8895, where they are working on a new modem with Cat.18 6CA technology capable of serving downlink speeds of up to 1.2Gbps.

Samsung itself in cooperation with Anritsu, which is a provider of telecommunications measuring instruments from Japan, to achieve very impressive results. This new modem has a 20% increase in download speed. In theory, the download speed is the same as downloading HD movies within 10 seconds.

Carrier aggregation combines a number of specific operator components with different bandwidths, to increase data transfer rates and network performance. By enhancing the aggregation capabilities, Samsung's new modem is not only faster, but will also offer a more stable data transfer.

According to Samsung, the new technology will begin mass production by the end of 2017. Of course Cat.18 modem is very unlikely to be present on the Galaxy Note 8 which will be announced on 23 August.
