Good morning/afternoon/evening folks. Here are things that have happened that really matter (out of all the things things that have made to the headlines, well according to me at the least)

It's Samsung all over the news!

Samsung is on a roll with one record breaking quarter after another with an astounding $50 billion profit according to the company's Q4 result which they released.

Samsung also became the largest manufacturer of computer chips overtaking Intel, the behemoth which has so far dominated the game. Although they both are in different fields with Intel ruling the personal computer and servers market, Samsung is the leader in mobile space, NAND and memory chips.

Samsung is also planning to release a chip specially for cryptocurrency mining. So far general purpose GPUs were the go to method for hashing, a dedicated chip might bring a lot to the table.

Samsung might also have mediated with Qualcomm. Qualcomm is the largest player in mobile space with their Snapdragon CPUs and cellular chips, but in recent times they have come up to face serious allegations of anti trust, monopolistic policies and has even been sued by Apple.

Moving on with Google...

There is an effort to standardise styluses by a lot of big companies like Wacom, Intel and Synaptics. Google and other players like 3M and Touch Systems recently joined the effort to launch a Universal Stylus Inititative.

Google is also broadening its initiative of "Go" brand of applications for cheap low end android devices for emerging markets by releasing Assistant Go application on the play store.

YouTube Go is now available in 130 more countries as Google continues to push the "Go" brand.

Google is also implementing AI in its flight app to more accurately predict flight delays even before the airlines themselves!

Google has also done considerable house cleaning by removing over 700,000 malicious apps from the playstore in the past year!

GAMING!!

Nintendo is looking good with its switch console having sold the entire amount of its Wii consoles. Switch is a phenomenal hit for Nintendo and nintendo is slowly building up the switch ecosystem further.

Nintendo is also bringing its smash hit Mario kart to mobile devices. The game is supposed to be set loose on iOS and android by the end of the fiscal year (March 2019, hopefully sooner).

Speaking of mobile gaming Game dev tycoon is now out for Android. On consoles/PC Red dead redemption is set to be released this year on October 26th. (HYPE!)

Nvidia on the other hand has done something epic by showing that gaming can be delegated to the cloud. Seems like one day every device irrespective of the specs could run every game as soon as it gets launched.

Cryptocurrency and Blockchain

South Korea has announced it will regulate and not ban cryptocurrency while India on the other hand in its annual budget has declared that bitcoin will not be accepted as legal tender.

And yes we already covered Samsung's own crypto-chip development initiative.

Yeah, Science Bitch!

Moving to some interesting things from the scientific circle...

Stone tools recently excavated in India are making scientist re-question the human evolution. Really interesting read.

Orcas are learning human speech and Yamaha is using AI to turn dance into piano music.

More from Tech

Fujifilm is acquiring Xerox for 6.1 Billion dollars. With this the once innovator and behemoth with its long time partner would collaborate to form a larger conglomerate.

Elon Musk Sold out all 20000 flamethrowers and WhatsApp now boasts 1.5 Billion users.

Mobile Space

Huawei is launching its own digital payment solution with UnionPay.

And Nokia is doing slightly well and has posted profits. Here is wishing the return of the giant!

Meanwhile LG settled its bootloop issue by paying members of the lawsuit $425 each.

And getting back to Samsung, they have confirmed Foldable display wielding smartphones are coming

Samsung's main competitor in the semiconductor business TSMC meanwhile has started building Fab 18 with 5nm chips well on the way by 2020.

Finally JEDEC is pushing UFS 3.0 specs. The new spec would provide for high performance storage for mobile devices with speeds up to 2.9Gbps.

Hope to bring more love tomorrow!!

P.S. : Everyday I go through hundreds of articles, feeds, forums and content to the point where it has become a part of my lifestyle. I like to be ahead of the curve when it comes to news, events and everything tech.

So why not bring it to everyone. Here is my mission to curate something for everyone at the end of the day(my day that is)! :)

PPS: Would love to see your response. Please suggest what else you had love to hear about.
