Signs That We Are Already Living In The Future #1

The science of today is the technology of tomorrow.

We all grew up watching Hollywood movies that inspired us as kids to fantasize about the days when the human race will progress itself to it's greatest potential. Even though we are not at the highest potential yet (I think), it's still safe to say that we have come a long way.

The fact alone that we can and have built machines that can work faster and more efficiently than we ourselves can is absolutely mind blowing. The need for innovation is hard-wired in the minds of tech enthusiasts like you and I. Even though us humans will never stop creating better technology, it's always nice to look back and see how much we have built together so far. Here are signs that we're already living in the future.

Smartphones.

No, not just smartphones in general. But the idea of what a device this small can do. Think about it for a minute. The rate at which we are bringing innovation to our smartphones is skyrocketing. Every other year, there is news of certain advancements in that particular sector. I mean, the fact that we can do so much with so little is fascinating and a clear sign of how us humans never stop searching for a better alternative.

We've Reached The Clouds.

Just a little reminder: the world's tallest building as of right now is about 830 m. You can literally run out of oxygen to breathe at that height. But guess what? We didn't even stop there! Jeddah Tower's (also called Kingdom Tower) construction started in 2013 and is apparently going to be even taller than the Burj Khalifa: about 1000 m! It honestly forces you to wonder how high can we build.

We Have Virtual Assistants That Do Our Work For Us.

I'm sure you guys have seen or rather heard of Google Duplex by now. It's a new technology announced by Google and is designed to make AI sound more natural and clearer and to make calls on your behalf. (It's like a gift for introverts lol) But in all seriousness, just having an assistant with you at all times without any major inconveniences is more futuristic than you might imagine.

Physical Disability Is No Longer A Problem.

In the past, if you were born with a nonfunctional arm or leg, it was pretty much impossible to make it functional again. But now, thanks to science and technology, it's no longer a problem. Heavy advancements in the health sector has allowed the less fortunate of us to be able to do everything we could normally do. This is a great developmental achievement for the human race that we were able to move ahead of our own disabilities.

Internet.

If you are like me, you probably spend like half your day or sometimes even more than that on the internet. Just think of all the time you have actually been on the internet since you first discovered it. Take a quick zoom out and look at how easy it has become to communicate with people all around the world! Think of all the new job opportunities internet has created and how greatly it has influenced your life and the people around you.

you're right. 25 years ago computers were used in a wide variety of possible uses in isolation. Today all those possible combinations can be linked via the World Wide Web. This essentially makes all of society interdependent in one way or another. In my opinion Jeddah Tower is a monumental achievement because its' builder is challenging the previous height limit of the tallest building. If built successfully Jeddah Tower may become the new benchmark for the highest possible inhabitable building. Its Architect would also become the new leader in the tallest building department.

Exactly! And even though it will be a technological marvel, it would come up with huge risks. Still, us humans are too curious to stop.
