BandZ: Taking Internet to The Blockchain

BandZ is built on the ideology that ‘what is lacking in one ecosystem is abundant elsewhere.’ It is not really about taking power from the big companies (Internet Service Providers), it is about creating balance in world internet data production, distribution, and usage. Reading through the project white paper one would be tempted to think that this revolutionary concept will only be beneficial to users in the first world. Contrarily, users in the third world stand the chance to have access to faster, secured and cheaper internet. BandZ is all about connecting these dots. The developers and the entire team found a missing link, and they are filling a gap in the world. The human right to topnotch internet data is not negotiable.
The UN (United Nations) reported that 57% of the world population does not have access to the internet, it is believed that this is partly due to low infrastructure and data cost.

During national service, I was posted to a remote location with reasonable literacy rate, based on national average, the entire community is passionate about education. But it was disheartening that high school students travel across several miles for an online registration to participate in national tertiary institution entrance examination. In the year 2015, not less than five of these teenagers lost their lives in a ghastly road accident on their return back home. If the internet was available, this could have been avoided.

Like it was mentioned earlier, BandZ intend to level the ground in this industry. In today’s blockchain and decentralized world, agnosticism is highly valued, as no single entity can have it all, it is important for Ethereum to have a reasonable degree of compatibility with another blockchain, so it is for ISPs too. ISPs are similar in the same way that they are different, therefore, BandZ software will improve interaction between ISPs, and they will be compatible in the sense that flaws of one would be covered by another. Users will no longer buy multiple sim cards to enjoy good internet services, needs for roaming (fantastically expensive) will exist no more, human will use the internet in another country while it is being pointed to their service providers in the home country. In world internet history, users will enjoy global experience and comfort.

For a new startup like BandZ to have an edge in the internet market, it must offer solutions that never existed before in the ecosystem. The world craves for innovation, effective and efficient approaches to different real-life problems.
The advent of BandZ mesh networks will address the problem of network congestion collapse, imagine that incoming DSL is between 10 to 1,000mbit/sec and outgoing is maximum of 8mbit/sec. This is a whopping x1.25 to x125 difference! Network collapse is imminent. Also, customers can act in a position of ISPs in time of operation deficiency. According to Quartz Africa, internet users living in the continent would spend a minimum of 24 hours downloading HD (High Definition) movie that is worth 7.5 GB (Gigabytes). This reality is difficult for citizens of advanced nations to conceptualize, but in Africa, we spend so much money and time to remain connected with the rest of the world. Additionally, above image shows that there is an infrastructural vacuum in world’s internet ecosystem. Mesh network ensures that these locations are available to ISPs through customers. For instance, I would be incentivized for helping ISPs with my digital assets and commodities. This is super fantastic!

You Ever Heard Problem With Roaming?

An article was published on telegrah.co.uk where Katie Bryan was charged more than £2,000 for downloading an album which cost less than £10, it was a price that she paid for using the internet in a different location other than her country. I heard you say “what a rip off!” yes, it is. But BandZ is here to extend user’s range of access, creates global bandwidth market that will decentralize hardware, hence reduced cost for ISPs and cheap internet data services for end consumers.
