Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to watch the movie "Ready Player One" by Steven Speilberg despite of it being showed in cinemas a couple of days ago. In my personal opinion, the film was incredibly impressive! Because of the movie, I was able to envision what the future might be.

To share it with you, the movie "Ready Player One" shows how the world can be in the year 2045. It is a mixed pop culture references, with much of the film taking place in a virtual reality world named "Oasis". It is created by an introvert genius named, James Halliday. He designed the Oasis with a contest that whoever wins will be the worthy heir of his fortune and be the one to take control over the Oasis. It is a place where people can communicate with one another using virtual reality gear (VR gear). Inside the oasis, you can create your own avatar wherein you can be anything you want to be. Name it, literally! You can even be a monster in that world without changing yourself in the real world!

For me, the movie implies how technology in virtual reality can be intertwined with our daily lives in the future. Well, that's most probably where we will be headed of course, because of technology.

I'm pretty sure that because of the movie, it’ll go a long way towards making Virtual Reality (VR) better understood by the public around the world. It can even help general consumers to accept current devices and be excited of its uses and innovations.

Now I'm going to give you an insight of my deeper view on the movie.

  1. I can see how VR can greatly influence most aspects of our lives. So far, it can be the best tool for us to have an access to all information we need whether in work, school or anything. It can play a bigger role in our lives than what computers now can give us. So for those who are not yet familiar with VR, I'm sure its worth a penny or even just a time spent to explore its capabilities and potential.

  2. In the future, there will be a tremendous demand for high speed connectivity. If everyone will use VR to communicate and interact with one another, then, we will be needing to improve network speed and storage capacities.

  3. VR has the potential to make our education model better and better! With the use of VR technology, our education system can be revolutionized and can possibly provide access to quality education for everyone. It is good to know that it does not just for games or entertainment but it it also an excellent tool for learning. Actually, studies have already shown that VR can help kids learn more and retain information longer vs. traditional teaching. Schools around the world should consider looking into how to better leverage VR to teach our future generations now.

  4. VR can stop people's negative judgement towards other persons' physical characteristics. Like what I've said, in the movie you can be anything, you can look anything you want to be. So if that happens, if everyone will interact just by using an avatar, people will only be judged according their creativity and intellect, not on their actual physical appearance. The only bad side I can think of this is people might choose to just live in VR instead of the reality. Lets all be honest here, we all know that everyone has insecurities. If something can remove it from us at the expense of escaping from reality, would you rather stay in the real world or not?

  5. VR entails having a virtual currency that can become more relevant than the traditional currencies we have now. Cryptocurrencies are already rampant. Traditional currencies can be obsolete in the future and can be replaced by a digital currency especially if Virtual reality already immersed. Imagine how this will create massive opportunities for entrepreneurs in the world! Oh this excites me. :)

  6. VR can make long distance be irrelevant. It is much like an improved version of social media because with the use of VR, we can communicate and interact like we are both in the same place even in reality, were not. This best applies for family members who are in abroad to work for their family. Also, for the lovers who are separated by distance. With VR, they can always be together face to face, and they can even sense each other's touch.

Well, I guess most of you thinks that it is wonderful to live in virtual reality where you can go anywhere, do anything and be anyone. The only limits are your own imagination. Technology like VR is already available in the market. Its just a matter of time on when people will accept the changes and embrace what life the future will bring us.

No matter how VR can seemingly satisfy our drive for happiness, freedom and experience, bear in mind that we still can't escape the fact that we are living in reality. As what the movie showed, the environment in reality was devastated because everyone is busy in the virtual world. Let us all be responsible in using this technologies. We are humans created by God and we have the responsibility not just to ourselves but also to other creatures God created. We all must have the discipline and control over ourselves not to use this kind of technology in a destructive manner.

Now, I am challenging the readers of this blog to take on the purpose of taking part in realizing the potential of Virtual Reality in a POSITIVE WAY in order for us to give our future generations a wonderful world of RESPONSIBLE HUMANS using technologies, that we can all be proud of.
