Can a scammer download info from my computer from screen-sharing?

Hi Steemit Community,

I'm working on a project where I used Quickbooks/Intuit (the online version), and I called support to ask a simple question about generating a report. Turns out, it may have been the wrong number or the number was directed to a scam service in India pretending to be support, and lying to me saying that I needed to pay for an extra service because my account was corrupted, and in order to save all my information from getting lost, I had to pay $1,000 for the rest of the year.

I was weary of this so I soon rang my colleague who caught on immediately that it was a scam. I did not pay any money, but I had let this scammer share my screen when I initially thought it was support. After I hung up on him and disconnected, I immediately called the sales department of Quickbooks/Intuit (the right number) and informed them about this matter. They said it had been happening to their customers all day, and they seemed like the were on it.

Now, I asked if all the bank info was protected, and the Quickbooks/Intuit agent ensured me it's fine because the bank info on Quickbooks/Intuit is not complete or full, so they cannot have access to the accounts. Is this true?

Also, after I was done with this mess, my screen saver had disappeared and I started freaking out that they could have hacked into my computer to download my documents/information. The screen sharing webpage was www.logmein123.com (I know, I should have known then but I'm not that tech savvy and I thought I was getting an issue fixed).

So, can a scammer/hacker take information from my computer although I did not see it from my screen?
